Summer brings a lot of amazing things: beach days, campfires, fireworks, s'mores, bike rides, just to name a few. However, nothing can compare to the thrill of an impending summer storm. Whether you love them or hate them, you can't deny that summer simply wouldn't be the same if there were a couple severe storms every month or two.

To me, the first storm of the summer is comparable to the first snow of the season -- I can hardly wait for it, and when it comes I want to go outside and dance around in it. Feel the same? Read on. Hate storms with a fiery passion? I apologize for your sad existence, and this might not be the article for you.

1. The thrill of excitement you see when you hear someone "I hear it's supposed to storm today."

2. Constantly refreshing your weather app to see if there's a cell coming

It's only been .01 seconds since I last checked. Something might have popped up since then.

3. Getting excited when you see clouds beginning to roll in from the horizon

So. Freakin'. Excited.

4. Feeling the unbridled power and energy of the storm as it comes barreling towards you.

5. Getting caught in a storm while driving and wondering if now is the time to begin your amateur career as a storm chaser

6. When your friend hates storms, but you love them.

7. When you want to stay upstairs and watch the storm, but your mom makes you come down to the basement.

If Mother Nature wants me, she can come get me.

8. When the storm wakes you up and you want to watch it, but you know you need your beauty rest

Child-Anna-from-"Frozen" voice: "The sky's awake, so I'm awake!"

9. Making waaaay too many Wizard of Oz references because even though you know you would definitely not make it out alive, that scene where Dorothy gets swept up by the tornado looks kinda fun...

No? Just me? Never mind then.

Thanks to climate change, it seems as if there are more and more severe storms every year. While I do enjoy them, I always feel tremors of fear and awe the next day, when I see the havoc that Mother Nature has wrecked on us. She has been here long before we have, and will continue to reign (or rain. Ha! Puns!) long after we have left.

Until then, or at least until the seasons change and we all await the first snow instead, try to enjoy the storms. Even if you hate them, they help you appreciate the clear blue skies even more.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
