1. GET TO KNOW YOUR CAMPUS.
Seems like a simple tip, but most don't take the time. Go to every preview day you can, getting to know the layout of your environment will give you the upper hand on your first day. Knowing your campus will help eliminate some stress.

2. MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR ROOMMATE
If you're going to move into a dorm then get to know your roommate. Even if you find out you may not like them, be civil with them. This is someone you're gonna be dealing with everyday and night. They will be someone that will have your back.

3. ATTEND AS MANY EVENTS AS POSSIBLE
Putting yourself out there can be a bit scary, but it worth it. Get your name out there and make friends. Let loose a little (not to much), and have fun. While getting assignments done on time is important, having fun and making friends are also vital to college life.

4. BE ORGANIZED
I can't stress this enough. Being organized will not only help you short term, but also in the long run. If it's from having everything color coded or having a different book bag for everyday, find what works for you. If you have some trouble being organized find someone that had it down and ask for tips.
5. FIND YOUR STUDY PLACE
Everyone needs a quiet place to study and do homework. For me it was the campus library. Whether you study every day or just once a week, find a place that benefits you. It could be the library, it could be the cafeteria, it could even be up in a tree. Just find that one place and utilize it to your benefit.

6. GO TO CLASS
Seems like it should be common sense, but it's not. While yes missing a class once won't be the end of you, you should do your best to be at every class on time. Not only does it allow you to take in every second of knowledge, but it shows your professors that you care. It could even lead to some extra credit, which in college is rare.

7. BEFRIEND YOUR PROFESSORS
Sounds a bit odd doesn't it? But I'm telling you from experience that it's worth it!! Your professors are people to. Getting to know them will allow you to receive better help if you run into a snag during the year. It also benefits you if during the year they could use a teaching assistant. Befriending your professors is vital to your education.

8. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TUTORING SERVICES
I can't stress this enough!! Whether your in a study group with friends or go to a study table held by a T.A., tutoring services are a life line of a student. Even if you don't think you need extra help I urge you to test out tutoring services because it could help strengthen your study skills or even show you new ones.

9. BE PREPARED TO BE UNPREPARED
There will be times when it all seems like to much at once. As a student in will tell you that you just have to be ready to be overwhelmed, and know that you're not alone. So in those times reach out for help.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
