Grey's Anatomy has been capturing the hearts of millions of viewers since it first aired in 2005. The popular drama depicts the lives of multiple surgeons while being narratored by the main character, Meredith Grey. For the past 11 years, Shonda Rhimes - the creator of the hit television show - has produced 293 heart-wrenching episodes that has led the viewers on many emotional roller coasters. I guess that gives a whole new meaning to ShondaLand, right?

However, while on this wild ride full of irrational mood swings, the show has taught us more about life than we might even realize. The things that the surgeons teaches us are perfect for everything from falling in love to experiencing your first heartbreak, from losing a friend to finding a new best friend, from having to make the biggest decision of your life to just making it through.

Here are quotes that are beautifully inspirational, heartbreaking, and important to know:

1. "Knowing is better than wondering. Walking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beats the hell out of never trying." - Meredith Grey. Season 1 Episode 6

2. "Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone here and don't give a damn about what anyone thinks." - Cristina Yang, Season 4 Episode 15

3. "If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you're scared that it's not the right thing. Even if you're scared that it'll cause problems. Even if you're scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud and you go from there." - Mark Sloan, Season 9 Episode 2

4. "Just when we think we figured things out, the universe throws us a curve ball. So, we have to improvise. We find happiness in unexpected places. We find ourselves back to the things that matter the most. The universe is funny that way. Sometimes it just has a way of making sure we wind up exactly where we belong." -Meredith Grey, Season 7 Episode 10.

5. "The human life is made up of choices. Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. And then there are the choices that matter. Love or hate. To be a hero or to be a coward. To fight not to give in. To live or die. Live or die. That's the important choice. And it's not always in our hands." -Derek Shepherd, Season 6 Episode 24.

6. "You can build a house out of anything. Make it as strong as you want. But a home, a home is more fragile than that. A home is made of the people you fill it with. And people can be broken, sure, but any surgeon knows, what's broken can be mended. What's hurt can be healed. That no matter how dark it gets the sun's going to rise again." - Meredith Grey, Season 11 Episode 24

7. "If you aren't willing to keep looking for light in the darkest of places without stopping, even when it seems impossible, you will never succeed." -Amelia Shepherd, Season 11 Episode 11.

8. "Sometimes it's good to be scared. It means you still have something to lose." - Richard Webber, Season 4 Episode 10

9. "We lose those battles as often as we succeed. The key, though, win or lose, is to never fail. And the only way to fail is not to fight. So fight until you can't fight anymore. Never let go. Never give up. Never run. Never surrender. Fight the good fight, you fight even when it seems inevitable you're about to go down swinging." -Amelia Shepherd, Season 11 Episode 14

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
