From classics to one hit wonders, these are my personal favorites.

Now that we are well into the summer, there are some major trends that have developed and here is a list of some of my favorites

1. One-piece swimsuits

This is definitely my favorite trend of the summer. There are some major upsides to wearing a one-piece: In most cases, you don’t have to worry about them falling off, one-pieces are more figure flattering for most ladies than bikinis, and designers have come up with some extremely cute ones this season. This is a trend that I hope continues on to next season, and the one after that, and the one after that, and the one after that…. OK you get my point.

2. Rompers

What’s not to love about a romper? They come in all shapes and sizes and can look good on any body type. You don’t have to worry about your dress flying up on a windy day, or having to match a shirt and skirt. You can dress them up or down, they are super comfortable and good for every occasion — from babysitting to date night.

3. Floppy hats

I have always loved big hats, from when I was little trying the huge ones on in Belk to now. The fact that they are “in” this season makes me so happy. You can get a floppy hat for every occasion and in all colors. They serve some functional purposes too like keeping you cool and preventing you from getting sunburnt on your face... Awkward.

4. Crossbody bags

Every designer, from Michael Kors to Kate Spade, have come out with crossbody bags for this summer. They are super convenient and keep your things closer to your body than a normal over the shoulder purse. This is especially good for if you are traveling this summer on vacation, and don't want to carry a large purse.

5. Boyfriend button-downs

Button Downs are simple, easy and timeless. This is just a new more relaxed twist on a classic and I absolutely love it.

6. All white

I know what you are thinking, "But if I wear all white I will spill on it." So maybe you don’t whip out your all white out for a back yard BBQ (or maybe you do because it would be cute.) Really depending on how risky you are all white is good for anything. What is the saying? “Practice makes perfect” so practice wearing white and soon you will be a pro.

7. High waisted swimsuits

This trend came back last year, but hey! It’s back for another round and I love it. This retro look is a great way to hide the fact that you didn’t get your stomach as flat as you wanted to in the spring. It still makes your waist look tiny on top of being a super fun look.

8. Loud prints and bright colors

I know these come out every summer, but it doesn’t stop me from loving them. There is something so refreshing about being able to wear bright colors after a winter of muted colors. This summer, it seems like the colors have been brighter and the prints have been even louder.

9. Maxi dresses

Arguably the queen of comfort is the maxi dress. This one is simple and great for when you want to be lazy, but you still have place to go. They can be figure flattering for every body type depending on what style you get.

Summer style is just so much fun. Happy Shopping!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
