Nine Costumes Only Redheads Can Pull Off

No wigs necessary!

Nine Costumes Only Redheads Can Pull Off

'Tis the season for giant bowls of candy, creepy decorations and clever costumes. Yet while everyone is looking for the perfect outfit to wear, us redheads have a special advantage, the color of our hair. But instead of taking the easy way out (come on, ladies, Ariel has been so overdone), I have come up with some different options for those who sport the nickname "ginger" and have been told they do not have a soul.

1. Kim Possible

Since it's always a good idea to purchase a pair of green cargo pants and odds are you can easily find a black crop top and gloves, why not rock this killer girl power look?

2. Wilma Flintstone

This one is easy. Start with a large, white t-shirt. Then cut off one arm and snip zig-zags into the bottom. Then find a thin belt and a chunky necklace. This costume receives bonus points too because your hair gets to be to in a topknot (which we all know is ideal for sweaty college party situations).

3. Donna from That 70's Show

Lucky for us, wide-legged jeans are starting to make a comeback! Now you can justify wearing them by throwing on an old flannel and a sweet leather vest (because let's face it, we have all wanted to be as cool and badass as Donna at one point or another).

4. Jessica Rabbit

Remember that dress from Tobi you ordered with the plunging neckline? The one you swore you would have an occasion to wear it, but never did? Break it out. find some gloves and a pair of bunny ears and now you're set apart from all the basic bunnies at the party!

5. Eliza Thornberry

Admit it, "The Wild Thornberrys"held a special place in your childhood, and we have the advantage of playing a realistic Eliza. Get a large, yellow T-shirt and some red paint to recreate her outfit and then sport some pigtail braids (bonus points if you have glasses or braces).

6. Rebecca Bloomwood from "Confessions of a Shopaholic"

This movie is a classic for the girly redheads who want to make a fashion statement on Halloween. Find a cute dress, insert loose curls, and carry around as many shopping bags as you can find.

7. Jessie from "Toy Story 2"

This one was a personal favorite from my childhood. Very similar to the generic cowgirl costume, we have the special title of Jessie simply due to our hair color in pigtail braids.

8. Daphne

If your closet is full of purple, then this is the costume for you. Find a cute purple dress, tie a bit of purple ribbon into your hair, and add the totally classic green scarf. Be sure to also embody her sassy, know-it-all attitude that goes along with being a redhead.

9. Olive from "Easy A"

Everyone secretly wishes they were Emma Stone, but redheads are one step closer to that wish. Personify this classic character in an all black outfit and cut out a red "A" on your chest. Throw on a pair of shades and be the baddest girl at whatever party you step into.

And there you have it, perfect costumes for those of us that have a harder time blending into a crowd every other day of the year. It's our time to stand out and shine and put what your mama gave you to good use.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
