Finals are right around the corner, which only means one thing: Christmas is coming! But, before you go home for the holidays, it's time to buy small gifts for your friends.

Oh wait....you're poor? Don't worry, I've got you covered. Time to turn your inexpensive Christmas gifts from cheap to chic!

Of course, you want to shower your friends in gifts for all they've done for you this past semester. They've gone above and beyond and out of their way to make sure you have a great life and show them how appreciative you are. But all the money you spent on food this year is gone. What now?

Being a broke college student doesn't always mix well for being a nice friend.

Here are some small stocking stuffers, little gifts, that are all $5 or under (yeah, you heard me right, $5), to give to your favorite people to show them just how much they mean to you.

1. Kikkerland Head Massager. $4 here!

Probably the greatest invention for the head - ever. After a long pony tail day, prevent the scalp-ache with this contraption. Consider it the gift that keeps on giving.

2. J. Crew socks. $5 here!

For either men or women, you can never go wrong with socks. You can always give away Christmas or holiday themed socks, but I think the funky sock style is turning into a year-round affair.

3. Face Masks. $3 each!

For those late night girl's nights! No better way to get closer with your friends than by bonding over skin issues. It's a gift that every girl can benefit from, no matter their skin type.

4. Forever21 Eyelash curler. $3 here!

This one takes it up a notch from the basic silver or black eyelash curler. This iridescent curler will be your new best friends' best friend!

5. Winter Headband. $4 at Forever21.

For those cold winter days approaching, every one needs these. At with these cheap prices, no one needs to know you spent so little on something so necessary!

6. Shea Butter Bath Bomb. $5 here!

This LUSH bath bomb is great for relaxation after finals and your skin! A glass of wine, a large tub of hot water and this cute little thing and you will probably be in heaven. Unless you can think of something more heavenly then good for you.

7. Travel-Sized Dry Shampoo. $4 from Ulta!

For those who have oily hair *casually raises my own hand* this is a life saver. I cannot tell you how many times I have told my friends I showered in the morning but ended up just using dry shampoo. THIS. IS. A. LIFESAVER.

8. Nail Polish. $4 each!

Everyone, you can never go wrong with nail polish and that is a fact. Not an opinion. 'Nuff said.

9. Makeup! Under $5!

Finally, makeup. There are various brands and sites that are cheap, but e.l.f. by far has the greatest quality for a low, affordable price. Eyebrow shadow, lip cream, exfoliator, mascara, etc! With e.l.f. the choices are endless.

I don't want you complaining about how you can't get your friends presents this year. They deserve to be splurged on, and now you can make them feel like $100 by spending less than $5.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
