9 Beauty Products That I Can't Live Without

Pretty much all of my acquaintances know two basic things about me: I love Taylor Swift, and I never go anywhere without a full face of makeup on. The latter is what inspired this article. Over the years, my love of makeup has led me to cultivate this collection of beauty products that I just can't live without.

1. Oribe hair care products.

I swear by Oribe haircare. Oribe's Gold Lust collection saved my hair when overly frequent root touch-ups and an unfortunate curling iron accident had my locks broken, dry, and nearly ruined. Once I no longer needed the intense damage repair that the Gold Lust line provided, I switched to Oribe's Bright Blonde Shampoo & Conditioner for Beautiful Color, which leaves my hair feeling just as healthy and silky, but also completely eliminates my brassy roots. Lately, I've also been using Oribe's newly released Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream, which has given me the smoothest home blowout results I have ever achieved.

2. The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.

I've tried a lot of eyeliners in my day, but none can compare to the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. It's easy to control and stays on my eyelids all day. Plus, it might be the only liquid liner I've ever had that doesn't run out after a week or two.

3. Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette.

Since the onset of my makeup obsession during my sophomore year of high school, I've gone through 3 of the Naked 2 palettes by Urban Decay. While it's true that this set of colors doesn't work for everyone, they are perfect for my complexion. Pair that with the amazing formulation that goes hand in hand with any Urban Decay eyeshadow palette, and you've got a winner for me.

4. The Kat Von D Lock-It Powder Foundation.

You guessed it: I'm a pretty big Kat Von D fan. Her Lock-It Powder Foundation has been one of my must-haves for years. Though I still put on a regular liquid foundation first, I have found that just a touch of Kat's powder foundation completely smooths out any foundation and gives me the perfect finish.

5. Vanity Planet makeup brushes.

You haven't lived until you blend your makeup out with the brushes that come in Vanity Planet's Blend Party Oval Makeup Brush Set. This type of makeup brush has been all over the place in the last couple of years, and believe me, they are worth it. I use a Vanity Planet brush in every step of my makeup routine, from blending in my foundation to putting on eyeshadow.

6. The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

Yes, yes, I know— predictable. There's a reason the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is so popular, though. No other mascara can make my eyelashes look as long and full as this one does. No, not even the highly celebrated L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara that is supposed to be a dupe.

7. The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.

I have weird skin; it gets insanely dry after I cleanse it at night, but I will wake up with extremely oily skin. That all changes with the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I put it on after cleansing and my skin is instantly hydrated, and I wake up without a gross coating of oil on my face. This product is cruelty-free, formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates, and it's also completely fragrance-free.

8. Sephora's Charcoal Cleansing & Exfoliating Wipes.

I get a build up of dry skin around my nose that I was never able to remove until I found these exfoliating wipes from Sephora. They instantly get rid of any dead skin on my face, making my skin perfectly smooth. They can be a bit abrasive, so I only use one once every few days.

9. Mary Kay's Clear Proof Blemish Control Toner.

This is the best toner I've ever used, and yes, I have tried Witch Hazel. Nothing keeps my skin as clear as Mary Kay's Clear Proof Blemish Control Toner. A day will come when I no longer need acne controlling skincare, but until that day arrives, I will be using this toner

I'll admit that these products probably don't work for everyone, but they are definitely my holy grail beauty products. You won't catch me without them.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
