Winter is slowly approaching, whether we like it or not.

8 Thoughts About Winter Coming
Mother Nature Network

With winter right around the corner, it is natural to be thinking about everything that comes along with that season. Cold weather, even colder weather, winter coats, dirty snow on the roads, etc. Here are some of the common thoughts that we have knowing that winter is slowly creeping up on us (at least those of us who live in a place that has winters) :

1. The fact that Winter is actually coming and there is no way to stop it.

You just had the best summer, followed by a beautiful fall. No matter how much we want to keep the warm weather, we know that winter will come. It will be terrible. And we must live through it and count down the days until spring.

2. Thinking about having to wake up an hour earlier just to heat and scrape your car so you're not driving around blind and freezing.

As if waking up to in a cold apartment isn't bad enough, you have to go outside and start your car so you can melt all the ice off your windshield. It also will never simply come off that easy, so you then get a good workout in trying to scrape of all the frozen ice. Fun times you guys!!!

3. The sad truth that you will be chronically cold for the next 3 months.

I am a naturally cold person anyway, so winter is pretty much my personal hell. I am ALWAYS COLD. When I say always, I mean always always. If you are like me, we must stick together through this treacherous time that is coming and load up on fuzzy socks before it is too late.

4. Thinking about the anxiety you will have trying to drive in the snow.

I am not a great driver to begin with, so having snow on the ground certainly does not help my sanity when trying to drive. Pressing on the brakes and your car not actually stopping is one of the most frightening things to experience, and I experience it just about every day that I drive in the winter. Even if the roads are pretty clear, I will find the one slippery spot because I must enjoy trying to wreck my car. Be safe out there folks, there are some crazy drivers out there (@me).

5. The resentment you have towards the people who are weirdly happy about it being winter.

I would say that the majority of people around here do not really enjoy winter more than any other season, so the people who walk around so cheerful and chipper about the fact that it is -10 degrees outside do not make any sense to me. I will never understand you and I will continue to throw myself a pity party over here about how much winter sucks. Good for you for being so positive though!

6. Thinking about hard it will be to be happy and cheerful when all of nature around you is dead the sky is no longer sunny every day.

There are few things I love more than a beautiful fall day. Sun is shining, leaves are changing colors, and there is a slight breeze in the air. I wish we could have a million of those days. Winter, however, really likes clouds, snow, and winds that burn your face off. Seasonal depression is a real thing and it is very hard to avoid when every living thing in nature has either gone South or died. Depressing, but true.

7. Having to put on 17 layers for your walk to class, then having to take them all off because they keep the buildings at 100 degrees.

College campuses seriously need to re-evaluate how hot they keep the classrooms. Despite the cold weather outside, it is highly unnecessary to have students sitting in a room that is over 80 degrees. I know I said I am always cold, but this is the slight exception. Putting on 3 layers before you leave, then having to take them off in the middle of class (especially when your coat makes a lot of noise) is obnoxious and annoying.

8. CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Despite all the negative thoughts I have about winter, the one thing that keeps me going is the beloved holiday of Christmas (or any other religious holiday that you may celebrate). Christmas is such a beautiful time of year and makes all of the snow, the cold weather, the layers of clothing, and 2,000 cups of hot chocolate all worth it (well, sort of).

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
