8.5 Tasks To Check Off Your List Before Winter Arrives

I really do love and appreciate winter, but there are a few special moments that you should enjoy before the snow falls.

1. Put on some sunscreen, and go outside

It is warm enough where we can still go outside to stare at the sky and not freeze our faces off while doing so. I still encourage sunscreen if you are going to spend multiple hours outside because the sun is quite powerful, but you should definitely soak up what is left of these warm days while they are here. Before we know it, our faces will have lost their summer glow, and we will have all gained Rudolph noses.

2. Eat as much pineapple as you can

As fruit moves out of its prime season and grocery stores work hard to supply it, the taste varies a little bit. While the taste is more natural and much more rich, you should get your fill of pineapples, apples, watermelon, strawberries, and all the above. Enjoy it all.

3. Get to know some of the birds in town

Most of the proactive birds have taken off and headed down for a warm vacation down south. In the case that there are some slow pokes in your town, you should say hello to those birds. Let them know that you’ve enjoyed their singing and their dancing in the sky over the summer. For the few that are left, be sure you get to know them. You could maybe ask them what they would like for a welcome home gift.

4. Go 3 miles over the speed limit

Once the icy roads come back and going the speed limit is the new dangerous behavior, you should relish in the fact that you can go slightly faster and not pose an immediate threat to yourself. I say only 3 miles over because I think that is both safe enough and risky enough to say that you were a rebel.

5. Fly a Barbie kite

It just sounds fun. It may even be fun in the strong winter winds. Either way, I think you should check it off your fun list.

6. Walk on the green, green grass while barefoot

Soon enough our green grass will be covered by a white blanket of snow. No longer will we be free to roam around on the open grass, but we will be having to trek through dense paths of snow. So while the grass is green, and we aren’t having to wear snow boots yet, you should take a walk on that nice grass, and be thankful for how easy it is.

7. Watch your favorite movies

As the cold and cozy winter days start to show themselves, you will find yourself watching a lot of Netflix, or in my case, lots of movies. Because of this, you may find yourself quickly losing a love for your favorite movies (although I’m not sure if this really happens). If this is your case, you should watch and enjoy your favorite movies now before they become so common that you start to despise them. We do not want that.

8. Begin some pen pals around the country

I always encourage using the postal system. If you create some awesome pen pal friendships now with people around the country or around the world, when the winter months hit, you will have lots of fun already planned for each week. You can guarantee yourself a letter delivered by the frozen mail man each time they make their trek out to your house.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
