This semester, I have three (count 'em,) THREE, days per week with 8:30 am classes (talk about learning curves and growing pains.) I thought I could handle it, thought it'd be good for me to get on a set schedule with getting up and eating breakfast (ha,) sleeping regularly (double ha), and getting work done earlier in the day (who was I kidding?). Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be finished with all of my classes before lunchtime. But is it all really worth it? Here are 12 reasons I'd argue that sleep trumps classes any day.
1. Early morning classes means that late-night Netflix binging is completely unfeasible.
2. And you can forget about early morning workouts.
3. Time to eat breakfast is out the window.
4. Sleep Deprivation becomes a real thing.
5. Staying up late to hang out with friends/watch movies/do homework is possible, but a death wish.
6. You start to dream of bedtime as soon as you wake up.
7. You can't focus on anything your professor says in class anyway.
8. You need at least 12 naps to make it through the day.
9. You start to procrastinate worse and worse as the semester (and lack of sleep) drags on.
10. Your friends start referring to you as the moody one of your group.
11. Trying to do your makeup in the dark of your morning dorm is utterly useless.
12. The number of times you stub your toe in the darkness trying to get dressed should be illegal.
13. Walking to class in the pitch black brings out your inner 4-year-old.
14. Weekends (which should be for having fun with friends and catching up on homework) turn into extended hibernations.
15. And, finally, you're far more inclined to hit the snooze and skip the class than get up to go.
