1. Get Enough Sleep

This cannot be stressed enough, getting 8-9 hours of sleep a night helps you and your brain function at its fullest. It's even known that getting proper sleep is more effective than getting enough exercise and eating right.

2. Eat Right

It's so easy to find yourself eating multiple portions of food in the dining centers. Start your meals off with a salad to get more nutrients and to feel more full! It's also important not to rush eat. Rush eating causes you to eat more in a faster amount of time and feel less full. Lastly, stray away from drinking unhealthy carbonated drinks with your meals. It adds unwanted sugars and calories!

3. Wash Your Hands And Keep Up With Personal Hygiene

When going to school with thousands of other students it's easy to get pesky germs from sick students. Keeping yourself clean will help you and your body fight off bacteria and germs! The cleaner you are the better you feel!

4. Get Your Vaccinations

Getting your flu shot and other vaccinations is one of the easiest ways to save yourself from getting sick. Most colleges even administer flu shots during the winter months for cheap! Getting a shot now will save you so much time and energy in the future.

5. Stay Hydrated

Water is one of the things our bodies need to survive. Staying hydrated can help you concentrate and can give you energy throughout your day. It takes two weeks to get in the habit of doing something, so by bringing a bottle of water to class for fourteen days you've already cut the thousands calories of coffee and soda you would have been drinking instead! And before you know it you'll be in the habit of drinking water before anything else!

6. Control Your Drinking

It's so easy for people to get lost in the party scene and before you know it, it's effecting more than just your classwork. Binge drinking has terrible effects on your health, and can lead to liver problems and alcohol poisoning.

7. Have Some "Me, Myself, And I" Time

Relaxation is a key factor in maintaining your health. Need a study break? Don't feel bad watching your favorite show on Netflix (or two), going on a drive, or just taking a nap. Our young bodies need a break once in a while. Also, it's natural to take a break after a few hours of studying to give our brains a break!

8. Don't Smoke

Smoking can automatically take years off of our lives and can be immediately addictive. Smoking can lead to heart problems, lung cancer, and emphysema at a young age. Getting addicted to smoking while in college or high school can lead to later addictions to drugs and alcohol.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
