One of the biggest problems that most people face during the summer is maintaining their diet and exercising. Summer is one of the hardest times of the year to stay healthy. With going on road trips, traveling abroad, or working, you may feel like it's impossible to stay healthy during the summer. However, there are many ways that you can stay away from temptations and stay healthy during the summer. Here are nine of them!

1. Consider Summer Activities That Involve Exercising

The best thing about summer is that there are a lot more activities that you can participate in that involve exercising! The weather is usually perfect during the summer which makes it easier to do things like riding your bike, going on walks, or swimming. If you decide start going on walks or running, I advise going in the morning or evening, especially if you live in an area where it gets very hot in the summer.

In addition, swimming is a great way to exercise during the summer! It's a low impact type of exercise routine that works out your arms and legs. It can also help you sleep better at night. Not to mention, it's the perfect way to cool down on a hot day!

2. Manage Your Sleep Cycle

One of the drawbacks of summer is that it's very hard to manage your sleep cycle, it's tempting to stay up later than you should! Maintaining your sleep cycle is important because it helps with your stress level and helps you stay focused during the day. In order to avoid getting insomnia over the summer, you have to make sure to go to bed and get up at the same time every night. I cannot stress how important this is! I suffer from sleep insomnia all the time. However, I've found that going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helps the most.

Also, if you have trouble going to sleep, instead of taking a sleeping pill, try drinking Sleepytime Tea. This has always helped me fall asleep when I have trouble sleeping. Even if you don't like tea, you should at least consider trying it. It's better than taking a pill because you don't get as dependent on it and it doesn't give you any nasty side effects.

3.Take An Arobics Class

There are a lot more classes offered during the summer that involve exercising. Going to an aerobics class is a great way to keep your body in shape! It can also help you by making sure you are doing the right exercise routines to keep yourself in shape. It also allows you to have fun while exercising!

4. Eat Healthy Through Making Quick, Healthy Recipes

One thing that you can do to eat healthily is to find quick, healthy recipes to make during the summer. There are tons of quick recipes that are both nutritious and taste amazing! You can save yourself the hassle of spending long hours cooking during the summer.

5. Avoid Fast Food

The biggest temptation during the summer is to eat fast food instead of making meals at home. The hot temperature during the summer can make cooking at home seem like a chore. However, eating at home is the best option for making sure you can stay healthy. Fast food is loaded with calories and sugar that can cause you to feel more tired and give you more cravings during the day. Even the salads at fast food restaurants are loaded with calories! You can find quick healthy recipes, as mentioned previously, instead of going out to eat fast food.

6. Make Sure To Eat Breakfast

Skipping breakfast is very easy to do during the summer. I am guilty of this as well. However, breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day! It gives you the energy you need to start your day. It's best if you eat a big breakfast in the morning, then lower your intake of food progressively during the day. This helps you get the energy you need in the morning and control the number of calories you're consuming during the day.

7. Avoid Drinking Too Much Alcohol

Alcohol can have tons of calories and sugar-packed inside each drink. When you go on vacation, especially on cruises, it can be hard to avoid drinking specialty drinks that are loaded with calories, so try to be conscious of this. You should also consider switching to light alcohol if you decide to have a drink during the summer. If you drink wine, try drinking red wines to limit your calorie and sugar intake.

8. Stay Hydrated

One of the most common problems that occur during the summer is becoming dehydrated. So, make sure that you are keeping a bottle of water near you at all times. Water can also help eliminate bloating and settle cravings!

9. Make Sure To Wear Sunscreen

Last but not least, you need to make sure that you are wearing sunscreen at all times! Even if you're trying to get a tan, you still need to wear sunscreen. And yes, you can still get a tan while wearing sunscreen! Trust me, you do not want to end up getting a sunburn, or worse, increasing your risk of getting skin cancer. So, make sure that you are always wearing sunscreen when you go outside.

If you find yourself struggling over the summer to stay healthy, you can follow these tips to maintain your healthy lifestyle! Almost everyone knows how much of a struggle it is to stay healthy over the summer. However, if you follow these tips and stay healthy during the summer, you'll find that you'll have less stress and have more energy to complete the daily list of things that you need to do.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
