Let's face it. We all want to look our best during the summer months. I mean, who doesn't? However, it doesn't have to come at a high cost or consume lots of time. So, I'm going to help you put your best look forward this summer. Here are eight tips and tricks to spice up your summer look.

1. Color your hair in a brighter shade or add highlights of a lighter tone.

We spend our fall and winter in dark tones of hair and darker shades of clothing. If you're not a fan of putting brighter colors into your wardrobe, then look at possibly adding a lighter color to your hair. Not only will it accentuate your tan, but it’ll bring your facial features to life.

2. Accessorize with a hat.

Hats are statement pieces that are always overlooked in the fashion industry. In fact, hats can be an easy way to make your outfit standout. Floppy hats are great for the beach and a night out on the town. They’re elegant and stylish. Baseball caps are my personal favorite. They’re great for when you want to look casual or if you’re hitting up the gym. Along with bringing life to your outfit, hats can also help you hide your hair if you happen to have skipped shampooing.

3. Add some bronzer to your makeup and skincare routine.

Bronzer is a fabulous creation. It’ll make you look like you’ve already hit up the beach without the hassle of actually going. As a girl who lives in Las Vegas, it’s really hard to enjoy the outdoors and get a decent tan when it’s 115 degrees all summer. Plus, bronzing has been known to give the illusion of a fitter body. So, if you want to hide those extra pounds without going to gym, just bronze up!

4. Switch your foundation out for a tinted moisturizer.

Summer has the absolute worst conditions for wearing foundation, especially during the daytime. It’s either going to be really hot or really humid, and either way you are going to sweat off all that foundation. That’s a waste of approximately $40. It’ll also lead to more frequent breakouts since your pores will be exposed to the impurities of your foundation. Let’s make it easier on your face and your wallet. Switch out your foundation out for a nice tinted moisturizer. Not only will it give you an amazing dewy look and cover any acne, but it’ll also help you maintain a healthier complexion.

5. Braid your hair at night.

Want gorgeous beach waves without damaging your hair with a waver or curling iron? Then, look no further. Just simply braid your locks at night. For tighter and smaller waves, make your braids tight (like a French braid). If you want your hair loose and flowy, then do really loose braids (like a pigtail).

6. If you forget to braid, then spray salt water on your hair.

Sea salt water mixture is a great wave to get your hair to look texturized and wavy. The only issue is that it does wear off slightly throughout the day, but if you consistently spray it then you’ll have waves for days.

7. Chapstick and lip gloss are your best friends.

Similar to the foundation suggestion, don’t pack makeup on your face during the summer. Your most important job is to make sure your face and lips stay nice and moist. If you want to add a little color, find a tinted chapstick or lip gloss. It’ll help prevent chapping during the high temperatures.

8. Wear sunscreen.

Even if you don’t take any of the other rules into consideration, please do consider this one. Many people don’t realize that sunscreen is one of the best ways to prevent sunspots and premature gaining caused by the sun. Always wear sunscreen, especially on your face. Your skin on your face is very sensitive and sun exposure on any level can damage it permanently.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
