Finals are stressful. Here are 8 ways to help de-stress during finals:

1. Nap.

A 10-20 minute nap will help give you the energy boost you need to power through studying.

2. Shower

Hot showers help relax your muscles and mind. It will help give you a break while warming you up at the same time.

3. Make a motivating playlist.

Making a playlist that helps keep you happy and motivated will make you feel better and it will also allow you to de-stress.

4. Take a deep breath.

Take 30 seconds to just do some deep breathing, it will help you relax and refocus.

5. Make a plan of attack.

Write down everything you need to do, and when it has to be done. Then come up with a plan of when you’re going to do it. This will help you visualize, and plan accordingly.

6. Take a short Netflix break.

Watch an episode or two of your favorite show; it will allow you to rest a bit while taking your mind off of school work.

7. Treat yourself.

Set up a reward system to help you stay motivated.

8. Pet an animal

Animals such as a dog or cat help reduce stress. Playing with or petting an animal can help increase the levels of oxytocin.

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends.
