School starting doesn't mean that you no longer have free time, though it may seem as that. But with the remaining time that you have before the semester starts, you should enjoy your last week like it's the last week of summer.

Here are some of the things you can do on the island.

1. Go to the Beach

Although it may seem like you've been going to the beach every single day during your summer break, try to make a change. Go either in the evening or in the sunrise–you'll see how different the beach is. You'll also be thankful that you live on an island.

2. Take a walk on Main Street

Whether you're walking on Main Street in Babylon, Bay Shore or Islip, you'll always find something different to do as well as eat. You can go to Bubba's or Bay Shore's Coffee Bean Shop–it doesn't matter–but whether you're in the mood for burritos oran açai bowl, you'll always be in a great, friendly atmosphere.

3. Go to Splish Splash

Take advantage of Splish Splash while it's still open. Whether you want to go on rides like Alien Invasion, etc., or just relax on the Lazy River, go and spend a day there and just have fun.

4. Go to the movies

Now don't get me wrong, some people might be at the movies every single day, but go watch what may be your first movie this summer or your last movie because once school starts, when will you find time to go to the movies? Really, just think about it. Go, relax and watch the latest movie out now.

5. Go to Adventureland

Perhaps Six Flags or Hershey Park is a drive you don't want to make, so instead, if you till want to go to an adventure park then go to Adventureland! There are rides, an arcade and outdoor games. Go spend a day with your little brothers and sisters, little cousins, etc., as well as your friends, and it'll be a day filled with memories and fun.

6. Go to a bookstore

Whether you're going away for college or stay on the island for college, there's nothing like finding the "perfect" book to take with you. This book can be your scapegoat when you need to relax or it can be the book you'll read when you're bored and have nothing else to do.

7. Go shopping

Whether it's at the Smith Haven Mall, the Riverhead or the Deer Park outlets, a last-minute back to school shopping can never go wrong. Go spend money and treat yourself!

8. Stay home

Whether it's your last week home or it's your last week relaxing at home, it doesn't matter, what matters is relaxing. Take a day and relax with your parents, because you know you'll miss them once the semester starts.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
