8 Ways To Make Your Instagram Look Like You Have A Life

Every girl knows what it's like to scroll through her Instagram feed and feel the the instant jealousy of another girl's post. Whether it is a throwback to when they were on a beach last summer or grabbing a fancy latté, it really makes you wonder if you should get up out of bed and do something photo worthy. While traveling and living the high life sounds nice, it's not always realistic when you're on a college budget. Here are some ways to up your Instagram game and make your life look much more exciting than sitting in class.

1. VSCO cam is essential.

This app is the ultimate photo editor. It offers a vast selection of filters that can completely transform a photo (I recommend F2 and P5). The app also comes fully equipped with so many features that editing photos will most likely become a new hobby of yours.

2. Fancy food pictures.

There isn’t one person out there who doesn’t enjoy food and it is because of this that everyone’s meals have taken over Instagram. Honestly, most plates of food are better looking than I am. For this reason I say go for it - be the person who can’t eat their meal before they snap a picture. Your followers will thank you.

3. Feet are in.

To the average person you wouldn’t think that your feet are the most photogenic part of your body, but the photos on your Instagram feed beg to differ. Feet photos have become a staple for people who want a creative picture to document all the places they have been. I am all for it (painting your nails helps though).

4. Candids are always a good idea.

Move over selfies, candids are the new way to reel in the likes. Candids show real moments of laughter and genuine emotion that you don't always see in posed pictures. Candids are the perfect way to post pictures of yourself that don’t always have to be posted on "#selfiesunday."

5. The back of you works.

Photos taken from behind are one of my personal favorites. Most of the time these photos not only highlight you, but also where you are. Throw your hands in the air or do a cool braid in your hair and you have the making of a perfect post.

6. Nature is your best friend.

Any girl that isn’t traveling to a new place around the world everyday, can still find so much beauty in their surroundings. Whether it be a local forest where you took a hike or rain drops on your car window, your followers will love it.

7. Setup is a game changer.

If you know how to make a photo look more interesting than it really is, then you are golden. This means you girls that love nothing more than staying in your bed on your phone still have the opportunity for a new post. All you have to do is put on some cute socks, grab a glass of tea in your favorite mug, put your laptop in position and snap the pic. Your boring Saturday night has turned into something way more exciting than it seems.

8. Finally, photograph often and post sporadically.

This is huge for anyone that wants to post exotic pictures, but only goes on a vacation once a year. Whenever you travel somewhere Instagram-worthy, just take hundreds of photos that you can then post throughout the year. It will appear to your followers that you are on a sunny beach, when really you’re in a cocoon of blankets and Netflix is asking you if you would like to continue watching. With these photos always in your back pocket, there will never be a day where you don’t have anything to post.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
