Social Plan

I know that some semesters are literally the worst and it seems like you are never going to get out of the workload that is now buried on top of you. You literally feel like you are drowning from the pressure and weight of the textbooks you have to read and all the papers that you have to write on top of it. This is totally normal though, honestly it should be expected by the third week of school. It is okay to be stressed out, but too much stress isn't okay. Here are a few ideas to help you destress from a rough, hard and stressful semester.

1. Declutter your room

Did y'all know that having a cluttered and dirty working environment actually adds more stress to you? It's a proven fact that if you have a clean environment to do work in you will be more focused on your work which actually helps your stress levels fall.

2. Chew Gum

Chewing gum isn't proven to relieve stress or anything but it does add a little flavor and distraction while doing work. It's just like snacking, it gives you and your body something to do instead of freak out.

3. Listen to Music

Music is good for the soul, which means its also great to relieve stress. Listening to music while you do work, especially music you like, not only helps you not stress but it also makes you happy and makes your work (somewhat) enjoyable.

4. Take a Nap

I know this might not seem very productive but napping is probably a really good thing to do when you are stressed. You will wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go back to whatever work you need to do. You will also be more alert after which will help with your motivation.

5. Exercise

Exercise is a great way to help with your stress, well cause you work it out. You pump some adrenaline which helps you later on with the lack of stress you need to complete your work.

6. Drink some tea/ coffee

A good cup of tea or coffee is always a great way to destress. The warmth from the drink just makes you feel all warm inside and helps you forget all of your worries.

7. Eat some chocolate

Chocolate has a chemical in it which is made to make people happy. This also helps with stress relief. If you are ever feeling really stressed you should dig through your stash of snacks and find your chocolate because it will help a lot.

8. Watch some Netflix

No, this doesn't mean to finish the last seven episodes so you can start the next season. Just watch an hour or however long the show you are currently watching is and then go back to work after. It will help your minf escape the stressful situation for a while before returning to working.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
