The other day, a group of my classmates and I were sitting around and talking about new Disney movies on Netflix. We were all excited about the "Hannah Montana" movie, "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," and "Sky High" joining Netflix and allowing us to relive parts of our childhood. As I was listening to the conversation I realized that a good bit of us saw "Finding Dory" in theaters this summer, plan to see "Beauty and the Beast" live action and honestly whatever else Disney has in store for us in the next few years. This made me start to think about how although we are growing up, we still are kids at heart. These are some ways that college students are not too different from kids.
1. They realize the importance of naps.
From enos, to the library, even to the cafeteria, people are sleeping. Sometimes coming back to the room and having a "quick" two-hour nap can really just do so much good.
2. They know mother knows best.
Don't know how to do laundry? Mom does. Don't know your Social Security number? Mom will have it. Don't know what to do about anything? Mom can help. It might take some denying but at the end of the day, we know who to call for help or when we're just feeling down.
3. They find joy in simple things.
Free shirts!! The sun is shining!! Class is cancelled!! Funny dog video!! Kanye smiling gif!! Woo!!!!
4. They have temper tantrums.
Sometimes we just need to scream and let it out. Cleaning up the damage will come later.
5. They act older and cooler than they are.
"Yeah that's right -- I'm in college. You've probably heard about me. I'm pretty cool. High school? What? That was so long ago. "
6. They cry without even knowing why.
This usually follows the temper tantrum.
7. They support who they belong to.
Kids listen to and follow their parents, usually without question. In college, it's the team. Whether it's football, basketball or every sport, college students will support their team -- sometimes to the point of arguments. We'll show our fiery support even if we have a losing record...
8. They know how to have fun.
Some things we'll just never outgrow.
