11 Valid Reasons Not To Go To The Gym

Long have the days of forced physical education passed. For those of us that aren't regular gym goers, getting to the gym can be tough, there always seems to be so much more to do. I personally know the struggle of going to the gym.

Here's my list of valid things I could be doing instead of going to the gym.

1. Watching Netflix

Every time you get on this magical site their always seems to be something new to watch or to re-watch. You don't want people to spoil something or miss something new. Tuning in for one episode can quickly become four full seasons. The worst thing is when Netflix asks you if you want to continue. Of course I want to continue.

2. Sleeping

Sleeping is something I personally love to do and can never get enough of. Getting nine hours of sleep is vital in college. While lack of sleep for school or social life is a must, you can only take so much. Why go anywhere when you need to sleep.

3. Cleaning my room

Often times when homework is piled high, one begins to notice the clutter of ones room. It only seems logical to clean it right away, what would roommates or parents think? Not only does cleaning statistically reduce stress but is also a great way to avoid doing other things. I don't usually like to clean my room yet when things start to pile up, cleaning is the first thing I do.

4. Drinking

A rite of passage and collegiate past time, having a drink with friends is something you should do on a regular basis. When finishing homework, or acing that test, you don't want to go the gym, you want to celebrate!

5. Eating

Food is a basic need of life. Even my little brother who hits the gym every day on top of playing lacrosse will miss the gym in lieu of missing a meal. Going to the gym hungry is not an option.

6. Volunteering

Being a good person and getting out in the community is a very important thing. Why hit the elliptical when you could hit the block supporting the community? Whether you need volunteer hours or not, no one can judge you for volunteering instead of going to the gym.

7. Shopping

While working out can improve physical appearance, so can buying a whole new look. When walking to stores you basically get cardio, and if you shop enough you basically can cross off arm day.

8. Doing Homework

Academics are the number one reason we go to college. We, above all, can't slack on school. From taking classes during the day to spending late nights cramming academics, always go before going to the gym.

9. Bathing

Proper hygiene is something you can't ignore! Taking a bath can be just as relaxing as the gym. Taking a shower also means you can't get all sweaty after.

10. Updating Social Media

From FB to Twitter, we all know the somewhat importance of updating social media. While some can look at social media as something completely useless, they are wrong. As a collegiate senior, Linkdin is my lifeline.

11. Anything else...

Regardless of your reason, NO EXCUSE is truly valid when missing the gym. I know I am far from perfect, but it's something I work on. As college students, we have access to a free, almost 24 hour gym. Use it! Not only will endorphins kick in, making you feel amazing, but eventually it will become easy. Just take it one step at a time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
