Autumn is the most underrated of the four seasons. Summer and winter are often either loved or hated, and everyone can appreciate spring. But what about autumn? This in-between season deserves some more love, and not just because of football and pumpkin spice lattes.
1. Flexibility in fashion choices.
You can either dress to the nines with fall styles straight off the runway, or put on your favorite oversize hoodie and sweatpants. Either way, everyone understands.
2. Cuddling.
You get to cuddle with everyone and pretend it's for warmth. ADDED BONUS: Saying you're cold and getting to wear other people's jackets/hoodies.
3. Stargazing
I've personally found that the autumn skies are often the clearest, which is the perfect excuse to put on a ("borrowed") sweatshirt and brush up on some astronomy. Bonus points if you can stargaze on a roof.
4. Visiting a farm.
If you live anywhere near a farm, make sure you pay a visit during the autumn months. There are plenty of pumpkins, gourds, and autumn candy - not to mention beautiful photo opportunities. (Pssst, DC dwellers...Eastern Market counts.)
5. The awakening of your inner child.
Autumn is the perfect time to be a little kid again - whether it consists of hay rides, pumpkin carving, haunted houses, playing in leaves, or just eating a bunch of candy.
6. Everything apples.
Apple picking, apple pie, apple scented perfume, apple candles, apple cider...move over, pumpkin. You've got some competition.
7. Excuses to go on long walks or drives.
Everything is just better in the fall, especially walking or driving among beautiful foliage. Besides, what can possibly ignite wanderlust more than a long, winding autumn road?
8. Family.
Autumn is often considered to be the beginning of the holiday season, so there are plenty of opportunities to spend time with family and friends. Hello, Thanksgiving!
