If you grew up with Disney like I did, you know the importance of each movie and how each movie can have a special place in your heart. However, some people stubbornly stick with the "classics", such as "Cinderella" or "Beauty and the Beast". I'm here to point out some of the really good movies that I find are not so popular, but definitely should be.
1. "Emperor's New Groove"
What's better than a talking llama? And Yzma is one of my favorite villains. She's hysterical and evil all at the same time. "The Emperor's New Groove" wonderfully expresses the theme of change; how Kuzco goes from utterly selfish to having a big heart in the end.
2. "The Princess and the Frog"
A classic tale with some added spunk, "The Princess and the Frog" is a great movie for kids and adults, too. There's the typical love story between the girl and the prince, but there's also a deeper message. Tiana has had a dream of having her own restaurant since she was young. This movie shows that you can do anything you set your mind to.
3. "Meet the Robinsons"
The protagonist of this movie, Lewis, is an orphan child who just wants to find his birth-mother, which ends up taking him on a crazy adventure with his friend from the future. "Meet the Robinsons" features one of Walt Disney's own quotes, and it's the important lesson that Lewis learns. Keep moving forward!
4. "A Goofy Movie"
A heart-warming "goofy" tale about a father and his son that anyone with a father figure can relate to.
5. "The Brave Little Toaster"
This movie, along with the rest in the series, take you through an adventure with household appliances that talk... This may sound funny, but it definitely exceeds all expectations.
6. "The Jungle Book"
"The Jungle Book" is a silly movie about a boy who makes friends with a bear and a panther while on his quest back to the "man village". This movie is filled with great songs like the classic, "Bare Necessities".
7. "Wreck-It Ralph"
This movie, about video game characters, tells an important story about how anybody can be a hero, even the "bad guy".
8. "Enchanted"
This movie meshed the real-world with the animated one, and did it pretty well. Amy Adams and James Marsden depict Disney characters' actions, gestures and speech flawlessly. The love story and the songs are my favorite aspects of this classic.
These are some of my favorite Disney movies that I think are often overlooked. I hope that if you haven't already, you'll give them a shot!
