8 Typical Subway Riders

If you have ever been to New York City then you have experienced the subway. Riding the subway is key to making your way around the busy streets of New York City. If you take a step back and observe, these are some of the things you might see:

1. The Manspreader

We have all seen it but never quite knew what to call it. Manspreading is when someone stretches out their legs to take up multiple seats while sitting. Picture this, prime time, packed train, no room to stand and there is someone spreading themselves over more than one seat.

2. The Leaner

The leaner is someone who leans on the whole subway pole making it impossible for anyone else to hold on.

3. Subway Salon

The Subway Salon is someone who is trying to do their makeup or hair while also riding the subway! I don't know how they do it, but they do, and they always end up looking great!

4. The Squeezer

The opposite of Manspreading is the 'Squeezer'. The squeezer is the person who spots an inch of space on a bench and tries to wedge themselves in it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!

5. Door Blocker

Sometimes we just aren't in the mood to sit down or hold one of the subway poles, thats when the 'Door Blocker' comes in. Leaning against the door is another way of making sure you don't fall during your bumpy ride!

6. Biker

The 'Biker' is categorized as the person who is not getting on the train unless their bike is coming with them.

7. The Runner

The name 'Runner' is given to the person who runs through the train station to make the train and then bursts into the car with surprise that they actually made it.

8. Subway Performer

The subway performer is the most interesting of all the subway etiquettes, you never quite know what is going to happen next!

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

music sheet

Being a music major is not all kicks and giggles. In fact, there are days when I question my sanity and doubt myself as a musician. I know I am not the only one going through the struggle, and so here are 13 GIFs that I know my fellow music majors can relate to...
