It's going around! Especially if you are a college student staying in the dorms, you understand the struggle of constantly being sick. Germs are everywhere. I have compiled a list of 8 ways to reduce the spread of germs during this viscous season.

1. WASH YOUR HANDS!

This one might be the most well-known gesture to do in order to reduce the spread of germs, but it is extremely important. Always wash your hands after going to the restroom, before eating, after working out, and basically every chance you get in between.

2. Avoid sharing drinks.

Even if you know your friend is sick, especially during this season, avoid sharing drinks. Instead of everyone drinking out of the same bottle, just get your own cups.

3. Sleep, sleep, sleep.

It is so important to stay well-rested during flu season. Keep your body strong and healthy by getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night.

4. Eat a high-nutrient diet.

Keeping your body strong and well-nourished is an effective way to not get sick. Eat foods high in Vitamin C and Vitamin D especially.

5. Stay hydrated.

Going off of tip #4, keeping your body hydrated is another effective way to avoid getting sick. Keep that water intake flowing because you're going to be wishing you did when that fever finally hits.

6. Exercise regularly.

It has been proven that exercise can help reduce stress levels and can boost our immune systems. Grab your workout partner and head to the gym!

7. Avoid touching your face.

Even if you don't necessarily feel sick, germs could still be incubating inside of your body. Avoid touching your face as much as possible but if you have to, wash your hands before and after.

8. Always listen to your body.

Even if you followed all of the tips above, some things just can't be avoided no matter how hard you try. If you start feeling sick, take appropriate measures and get ahead of the illness.

If you can get through the winter season without getting sick at all, we all salute you. It is extremely hard to fly under the germ radar, during flu season especially, but I hope some of the tips provided above can help you overcome any illness that may try to come your way!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
