Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani. My favorite television bromance since I started watching the ever-so popular Friends. While poking fun at each other by wearing the other’s clothes (literally all of the others clothes) or getting “stuck” in a entertainment center as a means of trying to sell it, Joey and Chandler get past their differences and struggles and always forgive one another. Chandler and Joey’s friendship is very sweet for many reason, and goals for many more!
1. When Chandler moves in with Monica.
Joey, being the sensitive guy that he is, is quite torn up about the fact that Chandler is moving in with his girlfriend, Monica. Even though it is just across the hall, Joey doesn’t fail to be a little nostalgic about all the great memories they made living together. This is the one where the nicknames “J-Man and Channy” surface, and nothing brings a bigger smile to my face than the strong friendship they share.
2. When Joey stars in his first ever movie and takes Chandler to the premier.
In this episode, Joey is given one ticket to the premier of his movie about World War I, and he has to choose between his five friends who he wants to go with. While they all try to win him over, he chooses Chandler. Joey goes onto explain that Chandler was someone who has always had faith in his career as an actor, paying for acting classes, headshots, and all.
3. When the power goes out and Chandler is stuck in the ATM vestibule with a supermodel.
When Chandler is stuck in the ATM vestibule, he borrows supermodel Jill Goodacre’s cell phone to call his friends. Because it’s just the two of them, Chandler cannot speak loudly, so he muffles into the phone “I’m stuck in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre” to Monica. She cannot understand, but of course Joey can understand exactly what Chandler is saying. True best friend goals!
4. When they try to win the lottery and Monica brings a wishbone from work.
Joey and Phoebe are pulling on the wishbone and Joey proudly wins the bigger side. Monica pesters him about what he wished for, but later in the episode you find out he wished for Chandler to get the internship-turned-assistant job he’d been working so hard at. To go out of your way to wish for your best friend to have their dream job certainly tugs at the heart strings.
5. When Chandler forgets to tell Joey about an audition he really, really wanted.
Joey wanted this part in a commercial so badly, and when they call his apartment Chandler picks up the phone, and just as he is writing down the message, he gets distracted and forgets the message. It takes the whole episode for Joey to forgive Chandler, but Chandler made sure to never do it again. Joey and Chandler end with a tight “bro-hug” and their bromance lives on.
6. When Joey is dating Kathy and Chandler accidentally falls in love with her.
Joey meets another actress named Kathy who he starts dating. One night when she is sleeping over, Chandler and Kathy get to know each other by talking all night long. Chandler has to confess his love for Kathy to Joey, even though he hesitates and it takes him a few episodes. However, Joey and Chandler patch things up afterwards and remain the best of friends.
7. When Monica and Chandler move out of the apartment they’ve lived in for the entirety of the show.
The Bings, with their newborn twins take their new family to the suburbs, and Joey is upset to not have them across the hall anymore. Joey goes with Chandler and Monica to check out the new house, and they reveal to him that there is a room specifically for him in their house.
8. When Joey buys Chandler the friendship bracelets.
Chandler spends some time ranting to Phoebe in the coffee house about how the bracelet is a “woman repeller,” and how un-manly it is to wear it, and unsurprising to many, Joey hears him. Even though Chandler is a bit pessimistic about the bracelets at first, he eventually comes around when he loses the bracelet and has to spend $200 to replace it. He then finds the old bracelet and tells Joey he got them matching ones.
Joey and Chandler, with their 10-year bromance and many jokes, memories, and adventures, never failed to make me laugh. They have forever changed the meaning of the term “best friends,” and the support, love, and friendship they share is one for the books. They truly are my “Best Friend Goals.”
