8 Times Bollywood Movies Taught Us Life Lessons
Filmi Beat

Bollywood movies have an affect on me that I can't even describe. They make me feel happy, sad, excited and confused all at the same time. I was raised watching Bollywood movies and since then, I've always had a love for them. Some are absolutely insane and make no sense whatsoever, but most have an aspect that sparks something within. Many have life lessons and are fun to watch because of the beautiful clothes, actors and songs since most are musicals.

Here are a few lessons I learned from Bollywood movies:

1. "Kal Ho Naa Ho" teaches us to live life to the fullest every day because, who knows, tomorrow may or may not come. Thanks SRK, for making me cry so much throughout this movie. If you plan on watching it, be sure to have a tub of ice cream and a box of tissues near by!

2. In "Jab We Met," we learn that we must love ourselves more than anyone else! I'm definitely not saying be conceited or cocky, but learn to love yourself. Be happy, be free, be crazy, just be yourself and enjoy life. It’s a journey. People will hurt you, but you can’t let that stop you or change you.

3. In "Hum Saath Saath Hain," family is everything. Before anything or anyone else, you must appreciate your family, love your family, and cherish every waking moment you have with them. When times are rough, you must stand by and support them. Thanks to "Hum Saath Saath Hain," I learned how strong the bond of family can be.

4. "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" teaches us to never stop, never give up, and just keep living life. Don’t be afraid of taking chances because you never know what good might come from them.

5. "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" taught me that before love comes friendship. If you can’t be friends with someone, how can you love them? In order to have one, you must have the other, and it’s not hard to fall in love once you are friends. "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" also taught me that when you love someone, you should tell them no matter what comes between you two. If you don’t express your feelings, how can you expect the other person to understand you, right? Don’t be afraid of being honest, just don’t have high expectations.

6. "Student of The Year" taught me to appreciate the people around us and to not take them for granted. When someone loves you, care for them and treat them right. You never know when you might lose them.

7. "Zindagi Na Milege Dobara" teaches us to remember to be adventurous. Since you only get one chance at life, don’t miss out on all the fun and live to the fullest. Work, school and responsibilities are important, but that’s not all life is about!

8. Last but not least, Bollywood movies taught me to dance like no one’s watching!

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
