Whether you're the average gym lover or someone who shrugs at the idea of going, we all have some thoughts while we are there. Sometimes getting up and going to the gym is easy and fun, if you're in the routine. Other times you can't even get the sneakers and shorts on. The thoughts start pilling in even before you walk through the door to leave. Sometimes we get our butts off of the couch to work out while others chose to watch the next episode on Netflix. The thoughts below are those of the non-loving, occasion gym goer.
1. Do I really need to go?
This is a common question everyone asks themselves before hitting the gym. Sometimes the answer isn't clear and may take a couple minutes to ponder before you can make the decision. Take the time; the gym won't be going anywhere.
2. Now that I'm here, do I start off easy or hard?
Now is the time to decide whether or not you want to start off by dying on the treadmill or shaking while lifting the bench bar. Personally, I'd rather get the hard stuff over with first and that goes with life also. Whichever one you chose to do first, have fun with it!
3. Oh my gosh, I'm dying!
4. I've been running for only two minutes?
I'm gonna be honest, running sucks. Totally not my favorite form of exercise. Although running may not be the best thing, it does make you forget about your responsibilities and allows you to drown in the music. It's a great stress reliever and definitely burns major calories!
5. Time to work on the abs.
Who doesn't want killer abs? Also, who doesn't want an eight count with fries from Chick-fil-A? Either way, something is making you happy! The next day when your stomach is on fire, you know you had a really great ab workout, maybe they will be visible soon (or in a year).
6. Maybe a friend would motivate me a little bit more.
Catch me on a good day and the answer may be yes! Friends are a huge motivator and definitely won't let you quit, even when you really really want to. Having someone try as hard as you are will keep you going on.
7. I'm sweaty, thirsty and tired. I want to go home.
8. Alright well I think I've done a good job, time to go.
The end of the workout is the best part of the workout! Time to strut your stuff as you walk out of the gym knowing that you kicked butt and did an awesome job. You only almost died twice and you totally regretted going to the gym in the first place about five times. But it's over and you feel great about yourself! Happy workouts make for a good day and great attitude.
