Eight Thoughts on Lilly for Target

As you may have noticed by elated Instagrammers, the brand Lilly Pulitzer has a line exclusively for Target stores that debuted this weekend. The much anticipated collection has been hyped with frivolous party-themed advertisements and features the fabulous prints at a lower price point than the original brand (!!!). In light of the frenzy, here's 8thoughts had while shopping this Black-Friday-esque event.

“If I get a shirt, swimsuit, AND dress, how many meals eating out do I have to give up?"

If only budgeting and splurging went hand-in-hand. Word to the wise- bring a friend who can tell you when you've spent enough. After all, Target tends to drain the bank account.

*checks balance and cries*

“Dear computer, this is what we've been training for."

Rule number one: even if an item is in your shopping cart, it is still fair game for anyone. Also, have a backup internet browser in case Safari or Internet Explorer are cranky. This is serious business and time is of the essence.

“Why wasn't I invited to the look book photo shoot?"

The interactive booklet was dazzling, no doubt, and it's a wonder they made it without even giving you a call. They even had a monkey and giraffe at this swanky party. Definitely feeling a little FOMO here.

“If I get this fabulous jumpsuit, I'll need an equally fabulous urban outing to wear it."

There's so many options, it's so hard to choose. The best strategy at this point is to just grab it all and then decide later which ones were actually wise purchases.

“It's go time."

An event like this probably required a grande or venti Starbucks and the athletic shoes that have yet to be used for very much real exercise. After all, stylish moms and sorority girls don't joke about limited edition collections.

“I promise beneath this competitive front, I'm a nice person."

Shopping tends to bring out the down-and-dirty competitiveness in a lady. As you shop, it's a delicate balance between fierce strategy and politeness. Sometimes you have to shove and squeeze between crowds to nab the last item on the rack.

“Dressing room = fashion show."

My mom used to tease me for modeling and dancing in an outfit I liked in the dressing room. But that little space is sometimes all the room that's needed for a full-on show- so werk it gurl.

“Should I really get all of these things?"

You deserve it, so treat yourself.

Regardless of whether you shop in store, online, or are just content browsing the fancy look book, the collection's bright colors and prints means that springtime is here- which is something to rejoice about in itself. The Lilly collection is sure to please, so check back in stores for re-stocking and returned items to snag something and treat yo'self.
