When people ask where I'm from, I am always proud to say Milford, Michigan. I have lived there my entire life and even moved from one side of town to the other. In my 18 years of living there, I have come to realize that there are some things that only people from Milford can relate to, and here they are!
1. You can't go to Kroger without seeing at least 3 people you know.
Each trip means seeing a handful of people you know. Kroger is really the biggest and only grocery store in Milford, which means the whole town does their shopping there. Even if you are just stopping in for only one thing, you won't be able to do so until you've had at least one run-in with a friend.
2. Going out to eat is difficult because you have so many restaurants on Main Street alone.
Every type of food you could crave can be found somewhere in Milford. Any price range, from Gravity to Leo's, you have so many to choose from. And if you're a true local, you have probably been to them all.
3. Holden's is a township-wide treasure.
From the breakfast pizza to the chicken tenders and potato wedges, from the racks of frisbees to the wonderful employees, everything's better at Holdens. This store sadly burned down on September 2nd but was soon rebuilt, back and better than ever.
4. When you run out of things to do, you take a trip to Novi.
While it's great that Milford is filled with so many restaurants, you can only go out to eat so many times. So when you are making plans for the weekend or want to shop, see a movie, etc., you're likely to make a trip out to Novi, MI.
5. There is an abundance of street fairs and festivals.
Milford is the hot spot for street fairs over the summer, and the entire town's population gathers annually for Milford Memories. Sidewalk Sales, Ladies Night Out, and Milford Memories, just to name a few.
6. The Farmers Market every Thursday during summer.
If you're looking for some fresh squeezed lemonade, locally grown produce or a massage, you have come to the right place. Milford Farmers Market has everything you could need on a Thursday afternoon.
7. All of Muir Middle Schools students walk downtown on Friday after school.
It's rare to drive down Main Street on a Friday afternoon and not see herds of middle schoolers. Usually making trips to Starbucks, Jimmy Johns, Burger Joint and then seeking refuge in the Toy Shop, it's not Friday without middle schoolers everywhere.
8. Milford is full of small, local businesses.
Shop owners on Main Street have become successful entrepreneurs thanks to the community in Milford. From In Harmony to Rivers Edge Brewing Co., you can find so many amazing local business.
I am so proud to have been born and raised in such a wonderful town with so much to offer.
