The Five Love Languages, written by Gary Chapman, is a phenomenon of a book that has sold over 10 million copies world wide. In the book, Chapman breaks down his concept that every person has a 'love language,' which means, everyone has a way that they love other people and a way that they want to be loved in return. As the title of the book states, there are 5 love languages, which are:

1. Words of Affirmation

2. Acts of Service

3. Receiving Gifts

4. Quality Time

5.Physical Touch

If you don't know your love language yet, or you're interested in learning about the other languages, you can find it out by taking a short quiz online.

All of the other languages have their place, but I'm here today though to talk about the best love language and probably the most misunderstood of them all; Words of Affirmation (it's not like I'm biased or anything).

I say that Words of Affirmation is misunderstood because a lot of people think that it's superficial and that it's a way for people who may be insecure to hear constant compliments to boast their ego, even if those compliments are true or not. Well, as a words-of-affirmationer, I would like to say that those negative thoughts about the love language are completely false. If you have Words of Affirmation as your love language, then you very well know that it's much deeper than hearing "you're so pretty" or even an "I love you."

So, if you're trying to learn how to love someone that has Words of Affirmation as their love language or if you have the love language yourself, then here are a few things that you know to be true!

If you have Words of Affirmation as your love language, then you know....

1. that you are NOT superficial because you like to hear compliments

2. the difference between someone telling you something that is heartfelt and genuine and someone trying to just butter you up.

3. that you will remember almost everything that someone you love has told you, both the good and the bad.

4. that receiving a card from your boyfriend/girlfriend just saying how much they appreciate you is better than receiving almost any gift in the world

5. that talk isn't just "cheap," it holds so much value to you.

6. that you would rather your partner remain silent than giving you a compliment with false sincerity.

7. that just a few encouraging words from someone you care about can help motivate you IMMENSELY.

8. that not everyone in the world has Words of Affirmation as their love language so you have to learn how to communicate love in other ways.

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
