8 Things I Wish I Knew Freshmen Year

It's a year of firsts but it will be a great one.

8 Things I Wish I Knew Freshmen Year

1. The people you meet your first week, or even your first year will not be your best friends.

And this is okay. It takes a while to make friends with people who you have things in common with when you are only limited to the people you meet on your floor. Go out on the weekends, join clubs, these are the people who share your interests and these are the people that will be your lifelong friends.

2. You have to do what makes you happy even if it's not easy to do.

Sometimes you have to let that friend go. She may be more harm than help. You have to make time to call your mom if you need her, and you have to make time out of your day to regroup from a bad grade or a mistake made.

3. People won't hate you because you're a freshmen, they'll hate you because they aren't.

Freshmen year is full of surprises and new adventures and pretty soon you'll run out of time to be able to go out every weekend and you won't be able to be careless and confused.

4. Waking up 10 minutes before class is worth it and no one will judge you.

The extra sleep is always needed in college. Whenever you have the opportunity, you should definitely sleep. Because in high school you could catch up on the sleep you lost on the weekends, but now, you seem to sleep less on the weekends because that kid Steve keeps inviting you out, and how could you say no?

5. The gym may be a 10 minute walk away, but you can use that as your warm up, use the gym.

It's a great way to relieve stress, and an even better way to stay in shape and not gain a ton of weight from that 2am pizza you can never resist or the sugarly mixers from the vending machine in the lobby.

6. Those neon scrunchies and cheetah leggings you had in middle school are suddenly perfect for that 80's themed party you have this weekend.

If you have more than one of these things, you will definitely be a hit. All of your friends will come to you whenever they need hot pink leg warmers cause they know they can count on you to have the best Hawaiian shirt.

7. Old songs will always start up the party.

Just trust me on this, nothing is better than jamming out to Stacy's Mom on a Saturday night with all of your best friends.

8. It all goes by so much faster than you would ever know.

One day you have your whole college career ahead of you, a major to choose, homecomings to attend, and nights where you just can't seemed to stay focused on studying for that exam you have tomorrow. But pretty soon, you'll be graduating and smiling about all of your adventures. When you look back, make sure you have plenty to remember.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
