As anyone who is not going anywhere special for spring break knows, it's not that exciting as people make it out to be. Whether your trip got cancelled or you didn't have anything planned in the first place here are some ways to avoid boredom while at home for spring break.

1. Catch up on sleep

We all know how stressful college can be and how the busy schedule spirals us into a cycle of sleepless nights and excessive intakes of caffeine. Take all the free time to sleep so that you can come back to school well rested and ready to get back to the chaos again.

2. Get a head start on homework due after the break.

Most professors assign homework ahead of time so that students can make sure to complete it on time, use this free time to get it all done so that when you get back there is barely any work to do for the first week or so.

3. Appreciate all of the family time.

They may drive us crazy at times but any college student knows that we miss them more than every while we are at school. Use this time to spend quality time with your family and do fun things that maybe you didn't have a chance to do last time you were home.

4. Start searching for summer jobs/internships.

Now is the perfect time to start applying for summer jobs and internships because before we know it it will be summer break and well all be searching for summer jobs last minute. Get a job now so that you can plan ahead for the summer.

5. Actually start your summer body workout/diet plan.

Still have a gym membership? Might as well make the most out of it and workout while its easy to manage and not when you are juggling classes and other activities all at once.

6. Detox from all the stress of school (and drinking).

This may not sound like the most exciting way to spend spring break but your body will thank you in the long run, use this time to replenish your body physically and mentally.

7. Spend time with your friends that are also bored during the spring break.

Spend some time with friends who also don't have plans for spring break especially ones who you may not get to see often. Misery (boredom in this case) loves company.

8. Plan a summer trip or something fun to look forward to in the near future.

Plan ahead so that you are less focused on how everyone on your timeline is laying in the sun on a tropical island and more focused on how much fun you are going to have in a few months

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
