Let's all take a deep breath...

8 Things To Do To Relieve Stress
Selena Barnett

Okay, so school started back up, work is ugh, and you're trying to balance your social life with your work and school life. Not to mention new relationships or long lasting ones. Talk about stressful. I don't know about you, but I get stressed out very easily. So here are 8 things to go to help relieve stress.

1. Read a book

Reading a book can be really relaxing. Just diving into a whole new story that you've never heard before. You get hooked and can't wait to read the very next line! It's also great for your mind. It's like being told a story. You just sit and listen, but in this case you're just reading the story!

2. Take a long bath/shower

Taking a long hot bath sounds like perfection, doesn't it? I mean hot water relaxing every muscle in your body, some great scented candles around, and a glass (or three) of wine. Talk about a very relaxed night.

3. Take a walk

I love taking walks. Just listening to the world around me relaxes my mind. I get to see new things and see new people. The beach, a park, or even the sidewalk in your neighborhood could be relaxing.

4. Do something you enjoy

I love having hobbies. I enjoy reading, playing piano, and painting. All of these relax me. Just taking time out of your week to do something you actually enjoy will make you feel so much better. I mean hey, if you enjoy baking, baking a chocolate cake and eating it sounds pretty relaxing to me.

5. Listen to music

They say songs can change your mood. So example being if I'm angry or mad, Linkin Park is my go too, but if I'm happy I might listen to Bruno Mars. The point is music changes your mood. So if you're feeling stressed try to listen to a relaxing genre of music like Classical or Instrumentals.

6. Sleep or nap

Who doesn't love sleep right? Well we have heard about the studies and statistics of youth and their sleeping habits. What I didn't get for a while though, was it's so true. Sleeping at night is so important for your body. I try to get at least 7. The ideal for me would be 9. The more sleep you get at night, the lesser stressed you will be. And hey who said nap time was only for kindergarteners?

7. Breathe

When you're stuck on that homework problem, or your boss is just being, well, a jerk, just take a deep breath. Just breathe. Even during the day when you feel stressed out if you just take three or four deep breaths you will feel much better.

8. Say a prayer

So for my Jesus Freaks. Say a prayer. For me it helps just to ask for that extra boost to get through my day and to just relax a little. Saying a prayer puts your mind and body at a state of rest and relaxation because you are in a spiritual state. #ThanksJesus

So overall just try to find things that relax you. You should all take an hour or two a week at least, to just do something for you. It could be taking a hot bath, or taking yourself on a mini shopping spree. Whatever your relaxing go to is, get it in at least once or twice a week. You'll feel less stressed and better about what you're doing.

Stay Stress Free :)

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
