8 Things To Visit In Phillidelphia

After being in the Philadelphia area for the last month, I have been able to really experience Philly and seen what the city has to offer. And let me tell you, this city is amazing! Here are 10 things that you absolutely have to do when you go to Philly:

1. Spruce Street Harbor Park

This park is right on the Delaware river and it is a place I would be more than willing to spend every weekend. There are places to get beer and other alcohol, food, and even games for children to play while the parents drink there alcoholic beverage. The best part of the park is that there are hammocks all over for you to relax and hang out on.

2. The Magic Gardens

The Magic Gardens located right on South Street are probably one of the most unique things Philly has to offer. It is a garden full of mosaics created out of garbage. The garden itself is quite big and has all sorts of unique pieces, some you will never forget! The cool thing, too, is as you go down south street you will find this type of artwork in certain allies.

3. Adventure Aquarium

If you are looking for something to do out of the sun, this aquarium is the perfect thing. It is right on the Delaware River on the other side of the park above. You get to see things like penguins, hippos, all the way to sharks and sea creatures.

4. The Liberty Bell

The Liberty Bell has so much history and is an incredible sight to see. Located in the center of Philly, make sure you check it out!

5. The Independence Beer Garden

This beer garden is located right by the Liberty Bell. It has a good amount of draft beer and a selection of liquor. With games like connect four, ping pong, and corn hole for those tailgate lovers, this is the perfect place to visit..

6. Logan Circle

Logan Circle is not far from City Hall and is in the center of where the National Science Museum and library are located. Usually full of children swimming and tourists who put their feet in the water to cool down, it is also a lot of fun as the street is filled with every country flag you could imagine.

7.Chinatown

I know there is a Chinatown in almost every big city, but for me this was my first Chinatown and I was quite impressed. They had some awesome bakeries, restaurants, and more. My favorite place was this crêpe place. If you get a chance to go to Chinatown, go and get a crêpes. You will not be disappointed!

8. Paesano's

If you are looking for awesome sandwiches, go to Paesano's. This place is absolutly fantastic. They have any kind of sandwich you could of think of put on an incredible type of bread. It is located a little outside of downtown but well worth the drive or walk.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
