The clock is ticking, and there's not much summertime left. Everyone is getting ready to hit the road and return to school, but there are a few activities, fun or otherwise, that we might as well have planned out for the time we have left at home.
1. See all of your friends.
It seems that no matter where you're going, you're leaving people behind. Returning to school away from home means saying goodbye to the people who are with you on what would otherwise be boring summer days. It means saying goodbye to the friends that you have reconnected with throughout the summer.
2. Binge watch a TV show.
When you're at school, you simply do not have the time to binge watch. Savor the last few full days you have by catching up on "Game of Thrones," "Orange Is the New Black" or "Rick and Morty." You know deep down that it just won't be the same if you try to squeeze in an episode a day, splitting your attention between the show and your schoolwork. If you have nothing to catch up on, start something new so you have something to talk about when you get back to school.
3. Spend time with family.
When you have to cram in seeing more friends than you have days left at home, it's easy to forget that you have to save some time for your family. Make sure you leave some time for them because it is always hard to say goodbye to family. Leave no room for regret. Go see a movie, go rafting, see a ball game or just sit at home. Just find some way to end the summer right with the people who raised you.
4. See a concert.
Some activities are best done when you don't have to worry about being up early the next day. While your schedule isn't so packed, go see the band you've been wanting to see. Make a road trip of it if need be.
5. Go to an amusement park.
If you're going to spend a day with friends, you might as well make the most of it. Dropping some coin on an amusement park ticket is usually not a bad idea, especially if it's the right park. I understand not everyone lives close to a high-quality roller coaster-water park combination attraction, but there's a good chance that here's a decent theme park not too far from you.
6. Go to the beach.
Nothing says summer like a day at the beach. While I would personally pass up the beach on account of how easily my skin gets burnt, an hour or two by a pool doesn't sound too bad. Pack a few sandwiches and some chips, head out to the water and just relax.
7. Refresh your memory.
Crack open that binder you've kept shut for a few months, and sift through what you learned. A little review to at least remind you that you went to school at some point in the past is never a bad idea.
8. Adjust your sleep schedule.
Whether it was for work or play, you know your sleep schedule is at its worst right now. Let yourself adjust nice and slowly so you don't burn yourself out at the start of the semester. This is easily the most difficult part of going back to school for me, but maybe you'll have more luck with this than I've had.
