Especially in college, it can be easy to get carried away with the late night shenanigans or the not-so-occasional studying until the wee hours of the night as a result of procrastination. Because of these late nights, the mornings get harder and harder. However, in order to keep your life in check and maintain routine, it’s important to get up and get going no matter how hard it may be! Although it may be tempting to simply roll out of bed, throw on a t-shirt and a hat, and head to class, it is important to take time to collect yourself before you begin your day in order to ensure that your day will be smooth and successful. So here are my tips for 8 things you should do before 8 A.M. to make the most of your day.
PRAY.
- PRAY.Every day is a gift, as cliché as it sounds. We are not guaranteed the morning, but instead are blessed with it. You’re here for a reason and were handpicked to use your day for goodness. Take some time to give thanks to the one who got you up. This’ll also help to set your mind on an attitude of gratitude that is likely to carry on through the day if you start off with it2. Read a bible verse.Once you’ve given time to thank God for the day, make sure you also take time to dive into His word. Whether you get to do a full devotional or just read through a few verses, exposing yourself to God’s word the first thing in the morning is a great way to inspire you to make decisions that are pleasing to Him throughout the day. His word will also remind you that no matter how hectic the day gets, that he is sovereign over it all and is guiding you through it. 3. Make your bed.It is proven that if you make your bed you are likely to have a more productive day. Plus, it’s always nice to come home to a room that looks decently put together after a stressful day.4. Write out your daily schedule.CAN’T STRESS THIS ENOUGH. By writing out an hour by hour plan for your day or even just a to-do list, you’ll be able to look at your day realistically and figure out a plan for how you are going to tackle all of your responsibilities. It is also nice to make sure you have all of your duties listed before the stress of the day kicks in which will likely cause you to forget what you have to do. Plus, it’s an excuse to use your agenda and pretty pens.5. Plan your meals.Whether you’re going out to eat or cooking a 4-course meal, planning how you’re going to be eating all day is such a weight off of your shoulders. It also helps you avoid those hangry moments of frustration when you have no clue what to eat and are too hungry to figure it out.6. Start a pot of coffee.Even if you think you don’t want it right away you’ll want it eventually, trust me. We all need the extra boost.7. Open your windows.Let the natural light shine in your room and inspire you to get up and get grooving! Because, after all, the sun’s up so you should be too.8. Breathe. And most importantly don’t take a second to breathe and take each day one step at a time, you’re doing great and you’re going to make it through.
