It's that time of year once again. It's back to school we go. It's the season of scouring the Internet for the best deals on insanely priced textbooks, convincing ourselves that school will be more fun if we spend $11.99 on a pack of special pens, making sure dorms are stocked up, and trying to figure out what we were thinking when we organized our schedules way back in the spring. It's time to begin a new school year. We've all got a million things running through our minds, but here are eight things we are all thinking as we head into the first week of school.
1. Is it just me or does it feel like summer lasted about two weeks?
No, it's not just you. We all feel the same way. Another wonderful summer has flown by at lightning-fast speed, but hopefully you are feeling rejuvenated enough to start the semester off with a bang!
2. My book bag... where in the world did I put my book bag?
Maybe it's just me, but I spent a solid 45 minutes searching my house (inside and out) for my book bag. Hey, spring semester was rough and I really did not want to see that book bag for a while.
3. The first item I need for school is a new planner! I'm starting this year off organized!
The start of a semester is definitely overwhelming and getting the hang of a new schedule can be a challenge. I think every student starts the semester confident that they will remain super organized with the help of their handy dandy planner... and it lasts about two weeks, maybe.
4. Since when are planners so expensive....?
Well you can't just get any planner. It has to be the coolest most Pinterest-worthy one.
5. I wonder how long I can actually procrastinate on this packing?
I mean, it won't take too long... right?
6. It's looking like I might need to take out another loan... for textbooks...
You'd think by now these prices wouldn't still shock me, but they do.
7. What exactly was I thinking when I signed up for that 8 a.m.?
There's no way I would ever do anything like that... I haven't seen 8 a.m. this whole summer.
8. Thank goodness for meal swipes and Chick-fil-A.
My moms not here to help me figure out what I'm eating for every meal and where that food is coming from. Don't worry -- I am confident I can survive on chicken minis.
While a new school year does bring about textbook fees, syllabi, due dates, tests, presentations, more fees, and grades, it also brings old friendships, new friendships, games, free t shirts, unique experiences, new knowledge, and an opportunity to show the world what you can do. No matter what the school store receipts or syllabi say, let's vow to make this a great year!
