Being a teacher is my future, and I cannot wait! It makes for an interesting and exciting time in college. Here are 8 things that all future teaches can relate to!

1. TEACHER CLOTHES

The dresses, the skirts, the special blouses with anchors, polka dots, etc. All education majors know that these are the clothes that you can't wait to buy more of. I already have plenty of them, but I just can't wait for the opportunity to get more!

2. The passion you have for working with children

The excitement you feel when you know you'll get to be in a classroom , helping with kids. It's an indescribable feeling, one that you can only experience when you are in the classroom.

3. The enthusiasm you feel when buying new school supplies

It's actually a bit of an obsession. Seeing the "Back to School" bins at Walmart make you smile from ear to ear, and you nerd out about it in only the way that a teacher can. It's the most wonderful time of the year!

4. You've heard the word "Pedagogy" more times than you can count.

Enough said. You've heard it a million times from your professors. Now you use it effortlessly in a sentence when explaining what your undergrad classes consist of.

5. Classroom observations

Being assigned to a new school for a semester of observations brings you so much joy. You're both nervous and excited, but ready to see another classroom in action. Getting 10 hours is nothing when you're ready to see an amazing teacher working with great kids!

6. Looking forward to making a positive impact

Something special that teachers get the opportunity to experience. You know that you will play a vital role in the lives of all the students that you teach. You're teaching the future of America!

7. A Pinterest board for your future classroom

You've been planning it since the day you became an education major. You're already thinking of what you'll hang on your walls, what colors there will be, and what the theme of your classroom is gonna be. It's definitely going to make for a magical moment.

8. The countless number of times you have been told you won't make much money

After about the third time... It definitely gets old. That's usually the second or third thing you are told after being asked, "What grade do you want to teach?" We get it, teacher's don't make much money, but that's not what we are looking for in our job. We are looking for the "Aha" moment when the light bulb goes off in a child's mind, because something we said stuck with them, and they got it. For the impact we are making in a child's life. For the happiness we have in our hearts for every student we have the chance to have in class. That's what makes it well worth it.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that.
