I've been fortunate enough to go to many concerts in my life, and this past weekend I was even luckier to see one of my favorite artists in the entire world: John Mayer. Seeing your favorite artist in person comes with a roller coaster of emotions, so here are the eight things that happen when you get to see your favorite artist in person.
1. You don't feel like it'll actually happen.
You think to yourself, "No way will I actually get to be in the same vicinity as my favorite artist. Something's going to happen that stops this from happening. This cannot be real."
2. You get nervous your ticket won't scan through.
There is nothing worse than the anxiety of waiting in line, watching hundreds of fans get their tickets in and be admitted into the venue. What if mine is fake? What if I can't get in!?
3. The opener comes out on stage and you get even more excited.
The lights in the venue go low and you trick yourself into thinking it's the person you came to see, but it's not. That's okay though, it only means the time is getting even closer.
4. You get bored in between the opener and the main act.
It takes less time for paint to dry than the main act you came to see to come out on stage. I mean, it's actually only around 45 minutes, but you're so excited it seems like a lifetime.
5. They finally come out on stage.
It's happening. It's really happening.
6. You cry.
How can you not? Your favorite artist in the world, whom you've been waiting months to see in person, is finally in front of you, and you can't help but let your emotions take over.
7. They play your favorite song and you cry even more.
Don't fight me on this. You know it's true.
8. Post concert depression.
It's a very real and sad thing. There is nothing worse than the day after the best night of your life.
