Going to school in the South and being from the North, there is a totally different language that I have noticed being down here. With most of my friends being from the South, I have picked up on a couple of these slang terms and compared them to what I am used to saying.

Northerners: "you guys"
Southerners: "y'all"
2. When ordering a drink at dinner, you say:
Northerners: "Pop" or "soda"
Southerners: "Coke"
3. Grab a drink from the:
Northerners: "Refrigerator" or "fridge"
Southerners: "Icebox"
4. Go around the:
Northerners: "Cul-de-sac"
Southerners: "Cove"
5. When you go to Target you get a:
Northerners: "Shopping cart" or "cart"
Southerners: "Buggy"
6. When you did well on a test you:
Northerners: "I got a 95%"
Southerners: "I made a 95%"
7. She got in a...:
Northerners: "Car accident"
Southerners: "Wreck"
8. The word 'fix'
Northerners: To fix a car, repair it
Southerners: "I'm fixing to cook some dinner"
