  1. Shonda Rhimes is not our friend and Shondaland is NOT a fun place.

Okay, so she’s a great person for creating a show like this because when I first started it I feel like I’d been waiting all my life for a show like this to come along. Except, I didn’t think that I would get so attached to characters and so involved in their weekly happenings at a hospital that didn’t actually exist. And because I was so attached and so involved in their lives whenever Shonda would throw a curveball like a shooter in the hospital, or a death that would shake the entire Seattle Grace community. But it’s things like that, that keep me coming back every week to see what’s going on.

2. You’ve considered changing your college major and dropping out of your current program to enroll in a medical program.

Honestly, if you hadn’t thought about this at least once while watching the show you’re lying. If you haven’t sat down and watched a full season of Grey’s and thought, “you know what, maybe life would be more worth it if I went to medical school.” and of course, it wasn’t because you know a lot of things from watching the show, like what a scalpel is, basic structures or how to do a central line (although that’s a major part of it), it’s because you want to meet/marry your own McDreamy or McSteamy and live happily ever after.

3. Tissues and ice cream are a thing every Thursday night
You have to make sure you’re stocked up for Thursdays, you make sure that you buy the best issues and your favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry’s all of the tears inevitable. Whether the tears start before the monologue, during, or throughout the episode, it doesn’t change the fact that they’re happening and those tissues will be put to good use. As for the ice cream, be prepared the eat the whole carton because who knows, maybe Meredith and Derek are going through a rough patch and you just relate in every shape and form, or something crazy is happening at the hospital, like a shooter, or an explosion or something else Shonda thought up in her crazy brain.

4. Everybody wants someone who they can call their ‘person’
Everyone will find someone in their life that matters as much to them as Cristina mattered to Meredith and Meredith mattered to Cristina. GIF. Cristina and Meredith have one of the best friendships on TV, in my opinion, and it gives everyone in this world a look into what a real, true friendship looks like. It gives everyone goals because they literally are goals.

5. You believe you can give grade A medical advice.

You think because you’ve watched all 13 seasons completely, sometimes each episode twice you think that you can give the best medical advice to those who need it. Someone around you is coughing? Maybe it’s not a cold, maybe they have a lung infection. Somebody has a cut on their leg? Stitch them up, or you know, just give them a band-aid.

6. Wanting a true, genuine love like Meredith & Derek

They have been through so much together. He’s seen her at her lowest points and he’s helped her through it. I feel like that’s all I could ever ask for someone is to just be there for me and support me like Derek supported Meredith and vice versa. Derek and Meredith truly cared about each other and whenever they had issues they worked through them, they didn’t just leave each other. Meredith and Derek gave me hope for love. They didn’t even have a huge wedding to prove their love, it was just a stickynote the two of them signed wand then proceeded to hang up on their wall behind their bed. And even now, in season 13, I think that MerDer is still one of the best love stories on TV.

7. Wishing you could believe in yourself as much as Cristina Yang did.

I think about Yang often. I mean she knew she was a genius and she was brilliant from the minute she walked into Seattle Grace and I swear if I had half the confidence she had things would be a whole lot easier for me. She knew exactly what to do and when to do it. I feel like everyone should have that much confidence in themselves that they can be brilliant and the best that everybody’s seen.

8. The life lessons we've learned from those doctors

No, I’m not just talking about the Meredith Grey monologues from the beginning of the episodes. I’m talking about the things that they all say throughout the episodes because I know I’ve had days where I just really need to hear some of those things.Like when Cristina was leaving Meredith and she just had to remind her that she was one of the best people on the face of the planet, and she said: “You’re a great surgeon with an extraordinary mind, don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need. He’s very dreamy, but he’s not the sun, you are.” Or when Mark Sloan told us all to tell the person that we love that we really truly love them.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
