You just do not experience this in Pennsylvania.

7 Things that Confuse Me About My New York & New Jersey Friends

I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, so I did not have much experience being around New York and New Jersey natives. This was so until I got to college...

So here are some things that wildly confuse me about my New York and New Jersey friends.

7 Things that Confuse Me About My New York & New Jersey Friends:

1.They say they are waiting ‘on line’ instead of ‘in line’.

You wait in the formation of a line! You are not standing on top of a line. I get so confused and think of being on my computer when someone asks if I am ‘on line'.

2. They do not know what tomato pie is.

Where I live, every tailgate, grad party, etc. has tomato pie. Now, if my parents bring tomato pie to a post-game tailgate, people are confused about what it is.

3.What is a hero??

This type of a sandwich is strictly a hoagie.

Feeding off of the last one, some of them do not have Wawa and have never been to one! They’ve never experiences HoagieFest, as they do not even call them hoagies. They’ve gone without Wawa mac & cheese and mashed potatoes, as well as the amazing coffee and too-good-to-be-true prices.

4. They are obsessed with the area they live in.

Why do Long Island people think it is the best place on Earth? I was once kidding around with my friend from home that Long Island people cannot have a conversation with someone they just met without mentioning Long Island, and then I introduced her to my Long Island friend, and he mentioned LI ten seconds into the conversation! Also, New Jersey people have a wild loyalty to their state, while people from other states here at college rarely talk about what state they are from.

5. What is up with this bagel business?

It has been made clear to me that the bagels I have been eating since I live in Pennsylvania, are far inferior to their blessed bagels.

6. Taylor Ham? Pork Roll?

They care a lot that I call it pork roll and they call it Taylor Ham, often trying to start debates about how I should say Taylor Ham, when I just really do not care.

7. They can buy alcohol? At a gas station?

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
