November is the month that many people forget about. We go from the excitement of Halloween to Christmas mode in 5 seconds. We tend to overlook the great holiday that is in November, a holiday that is so special and important. Thanksgiving is the holiday where we get to spend time with our family and friends as we reflect on the things that we are thankful for. Here are several things that I am thankful for this Thanksgiving.

1. I am thankful for my family and the love and support that they give me

I would not be able to get through life without their love. We may not always get along but I know that they will always be there. Family is family and we will always love each other!

2. I am thankful for my two older sisters

They are both my rock. They always know how to cheer me up and how to make me laugh when I am having a bad day. The ties between sisters are unbreakable and I am so thankful for them.

3. I am thankful for my wonderful boyfriend

He goes to the end of the earth to make sure that I am happy and have the things I need. He believes and supports my dreams and pushes me to achieve them. Best of all, he loves me for who I am.

4. I am thankful for my friends

I may not have a lot, but the ones I have are the best. I may not see them all of the time, but we are always there to support and love each other.

5. I am thankful for being able to attend college

There are so many people around the world that do not have the opportunity to go to college. I am so blessed to be able to attend a good university while receiving a great education.

6. I am thankful for my job

Juggling school work, my job and club activities can be challenging, but I am so grateful for having a job. I am able to work during school so I can start to save for the future.

7. I am thankful to be going home for Thanksgiving

I am so excited to go home and spend the holiday with the people that mean the most to me. Many people do not get to see their family on the holidays, but I am so grateful that I get to do so.

8. I may not have the perfect life, but I am thankful for the one I have

I know that the obstacles that I have gone through are just shaping me into the person that I am supposed to be. I am thankful for being able to get up every day and work toward making myself a better person.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
