Being an accounting major is something you were born to be.
You distinctly know that you would not be able to handle being an engineer, nurse or anything else because the accounting life choose you. Us accounting majors have a certain type of personality, and I am proud of it.
I might be a perfectionist, extremely organized and see everything in black and white, but I would not want it any other way. In spite of it all, there are eight things that seem to occur often when you are an accounting student.
1. The face that people make when they hear that you are an accounting major.
"Accounting? Is that not sooooo boring and for people that do not like interacting with others?" Actually, debits and credits is music to my ears.
2. Economics just was not your class.
No but really, none of it makes sense. Supply and demand ... no, thank you.
3. The moment when you finally seek out the $0.10 mistake in your financial statements.
Finding that mistake in Excel, changing the numbers, hitting enter and seeing everything in balance. No, there really is not any better feeling. Some say skydiving is fun, but I think balancing your statements is more fun.
4. After a long day of doing accounting problems just to find yourself dreaming of them.
Debits and credits will never escape your mind.
5. The type of respect you receive when you tell people you are an accounting major.
Not to brag, but being an accountant is not easy and most people understand that. IT feels pretty ~cool~ (and nerdy) when people tend to respect you more knowing how hard you work.
6. When people think accounting is only math.
No, no and NO.
7. Thinking non-stop about the CPA exam.
Should I start studying now or ... now?
8. Knowing it might be a difficult journey, but no matter what, you are going places.
Although accounting might be a difficult subject, there is no doubt that it will all be worth it at the end of the day.
