1.) It's Not Like The Movies

You’re going to get excited for glitz and glamour and love. Let me tell you, it’s not all that. It can be stressful as flip at times. Meltdowns will happen, but don’t worry, they will end. It's also a lot of love and glamour, but do not be surprised when you get a call from the Bride crying about some random thing or telling you she went and bought a puppy. Or her second within a month.

2.) Long Engagements = Impatient MOH

Think about if your parents tell you that you’re getting a puppy but you have to wait a full year to snuggle and pet your new best friend. Yeah, that’s the similar feeling you will have while waiting for all the fun to happen. It feels like a thousand years, but the time will come. Eventually.

3.) It Makes You Want To Get Married

One minute you’re helping your sister pick out her wedding dress. The next, you’re on Pinterest planning your entire wedding. You’ll have your color scheme, location, time of year, the whole shebang. You'll see a man walking down the street and start imagining him standing at the alter waiting for you.

4.) You Are NOT A Decision Maker

You can try your hardest to tell the Bride that you are going to have eight “plus-ones,” but it definitely won’t happen. You can try to make the playlist or pick who you walk with, but ultimately you won’t have a choice. The Bride is queen, get ready to bow down.

5.) Wedding Showers: Your Worst Nightmare

One for friends. One for family. One for the in-laws. IT’S A LOT OF WORK. IT’S STRESSFUL. Pinterest will become your best friend for these. Get creative and remember you are doing this for ya home girl, aka the Bride.

6.) MOH: Bride's Personal Therapist

Meltdowns will occur. You will have to be a therapist. You will have to calm her down and make her happy. Just keep reminding her how pretty she is and how awesome her wedding day is going to be. They’ll end eventually, I promise. You might have to wait until the wedding day, but it’ll end.

7.) The Speech: Emotional, Terrifying, Exhilarating

You will cry while writing it. Or you will laugh the entire time. Either way, it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do. You’ll cry while reading it to the guests because it’ll make you realize how excited you are for this new chapter in their life. Kim K tears will fall from every human in that room.

8.) You Will Adore The Bride Even More Than Before

I honestly dare you to be the MOH and NOT realize how freaking awesome the Bride is. She asked you to be her right hand girlfriend in the most important day of her life. That’s some serious friendship and sisterhood. The minute you see her walk down that isle, you’re going to be sobbing your life away in a sea of tears.

All in all, being Maid of Honor is pretty amazing. There's a lot that goes into it, so just be prepared for the insanity. Don't forget to make sure the Bride knows she is queen, cause let's be real, that's all that really matters.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
