While there are numerous arguments against the rise of social media and technology in our society, many of which I agree with, there are some benefits that have truly been life changing. Sure, the access to news is great and it's nice (sometimes) that most everyone has the ability to voice their opinions nowadays, but there is one app that is the true fountain of gold: Pinterest. If you're an addict like me, Pinterest is where you become a home decorator, a world renowned chef, a fashion diva, a handyman, and a traveler. Pinterest is one app that I am not ashamed to be addicted to because for some reason, it just feels superior to the others. If the following symptoms apply to you, then you suffer from Pinterestation, a common affliction with no known cures.
1. You have a board for everything. Literally everything.
The categories are endless, yet specific. When people critique your boards, you become frustrated because you understand your system, even if no one else does.
2. You have anxiety about your board and pin organization.
You become stressed when deciding where a pin should go and if it deserves a whole new board category. It's a system that takes a lot of work.
3. You prefer to pin rather than post, tweet, or snap.
Pinning is actually a time saver, some would say, as you can pin at least fifteen things in the amount of time it takes to post a picture or status or tweet. Efficiency is key.
4. You've attempted to recreate a Pinterest outfit, hairstyle, DIY project, or meal and it has gone horrible wrong.
This is where the ugliest fingernails, worst hair days, terrible meals, and horrendous decor projects come from.
5. You have pinned 1000's of ideas, yet only tried about ten of them.
You have good intentions, but just never get around to actually using these wonderful tips and tricks.
6. You have used Pinterest to hint at people how you're feeling or what you want.
After all, the best hints are left on a source that no one in their right mind would think to ever look at for ideas or tracks.
7. You feel like you have to explain yourself sometimes.
8. You pin things that have absolutely no relevance to your life in any way.
You've got the wedding board, the home board, the travel board...but you've got zero dollars, live in a shack on a college budget, and are as single as the future cat lady you know you'll become (which is why you've got a board dedicated to animals).
But don't let any of that get you down! Keep pinning away my fellow addicts!
