We all are desperately trying to hold onto what's left of our summer. I, myself, cannot believe how quickly summer has come and gone. Beach days, road trips, and ice cream runs are slowly dwindling while fall approaches. Enjoying a good book on the beach always puts me at ease and here's a list of books that'll keep summer going for you even if it's almost over.
1. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
My all time favorite traveling book. If you love food, traveling, and the idea of finding yourself then you have to pick up this book. The movie is good, but the details in the book make it so much better. Feel like traveling the world from the comfort of your home? Pick up this book to fulfill those wanderlust wants and needs without breaking the bank.
2. Amy & Rogers Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
Anything by Morgan Matson would do for your summer reading list, but this one is my favorite. Just reading this made me want to jump in my car and start driving. Due to a tragic accident, Amy and her mother have to move across the country. Her mother's friend's son helps her make the drive with the car, but they veer off the path her mother had mapped out for them. It's such an enjoyable read you won't want to put it down at all.
3. What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick
This book takes place on an island during the summer, what more could you ask for. Just the setting alone makes me want to move. Gwen spends her time cleaning houses on the island. She has this 'big mistake', who ends up working on yards on the island. It's just so good I couldn't put it down at all.
4. The Summer I Turned Pretty series by Jenny Han
Come on, it's got summer in the title, of course it's a summer read! This trilogy is so amazing, anything by Jenny Han is (also check out her book To All The Boys I've Loved Before), and it's such an addicting read. You can buy the entire book series together as one big book, like I did, and just read it all together so seamlessly. If you love summer, love triangles, and witty banter then this book is meant for you/
5. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith
I actually listened to this book during my work hours and when I was in the car and I loved it. I'm sure I'll pick it up to add to my packed book shelves because I enjoyed it that much. One crazy night in New York City takes these two characters on a journey and you get to see their stories from their points of view, which makes it so interesting. If you love stories that are written in different points of view and the idea of fate bringing two people together for a reason then this is the summer read for you.
6. A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole
I couldn't make this list without including a book that made me cry my eyes out, and this is the one. It's such an amazingly written book and it took me on such a fantastic journey that I couldn't put it down until the very end. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend this book no matter what season it is because it is just that good.
7. My Life with The Walter Boys by Ali Novak
This book was just so good and funny, an excellent read that's for sure. It's one of those easy reading books that you fly right through because you don't realize how quickly you're reading it. One girl, twelve boys, and one roof. That's just the easiest way to describe this book. If you want something funny and easy then this book is meant for you.
8. Basically Anything by Sarah Dessen or Susan Colasanti
These two authors are my favorite and my ultimate inspirations to why I want to be a writer. Their writing styles are perfect to me and their stories are just meant to be read during summer. I can't say I've ever disliked any of their books so please just pick one up and start reading!
To all the summer loving readers out there I hope this list is helpful, there are so many other books on my TBR list that I could list but can't personally reccomend, but these I surely can. So pick one up and happy reading!
