8 Struggles Of Wearing A Bikini

From tan lines to wedgies.

This time of year brings a lot of fun summer activities, but if you're a girl, you know all too well the true summer struggle:

Bikinis.

1) The wedgies

This picture is all too true. There's always that awkward moment after every waterslide or after every time you get out of the pool that you have to hook your thumb in your bikini bottom and give it a good tug. But when you do-- the relief is so sweet.

2) A top piece that never fits quite right

This is true no matter if you're an XL, S, M, L, XXXXXL or anything in between. No matter what you do-- your top and bottom piece probably will never fit perfectly. It seems more common for the top piece to be the weird piece. It's either too small and things start popping out, or it's too big and cups open for the world to see.

3) Unsightly tan lines

This one isn't a huge deal if you're like me and you don't tan (ever), but it's unfortunately for the girl's who can tan and accidentally wear their bikini a little crooked, or have funky straps.

4) Clasps/hooks

I had a personal bad experience with the clasp on my bikini this summer at the water park. The water park I go to also has go karts, and the track was crazy bumpy. By the end of the ride, the metal clasp little banged a hole in my back along my spine. Not only that, but various clasps and hooks sometimes find a way to slowly come undone if you aren't careful.

5) The knot

Most bikinis are halter style tops, and this means there's a giant, hard knot of fabric sitting at the top of your spine, right behind your neck. This slowly starts to rub that spot raw, and sometimes leaves a fun indentation in your flesh.

6) Constant fear

Every time you move too quickly, water currents get too strong, or you slide down a waterslide, you're checking all the ties and clasps, and you're making sure everything is situated. Sometimes, you'll even hold that sucker in place to ensure it isn't going anywhere.

7) Underwire

Some (not all) bikini tops have underwire. Just like with bras, underwire always finds a way to poke out of the fabric after what feels like a single use, and incessantly pokes you from that point on.

8) Shaving

Sometimes-- scratch that-- every time you wear a bikini, you're going to accidentally miss a spot shaving somewhere. I always find a little patch of hair on me that isn't shaved down like I hoped. Do you ever notice it on anyone else? Likely not. No one is going to notice it on you, and no one is going to care.

If you've experienced any of these, know that you are not alone! I have personal experience with each of these, as have many girls. The struggle is real, but sometimes, it's worth it to look great for the summer.

Just keep swimming.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
