8 Stages To Every Halloweekend

The one time of the year where you can be whatever you want to be

8 Stages To Every Halloweekend
Wesleying

As a little kid, October 31st was hands-down my favorite day of the year. But as I grew up, officially too old to dress as a pop-star and run from house to house begging for candy, I thought my days of Halloween fun were far behind me. I was wrong. In the words of none other than the iconic Cady Heron, "In the regular world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. But in Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut, and no other girls can say anything about it." Celebrating Halloween in Wisconsin is a whole new experience, and here's some of its most recognizable stages...

1. Choosing all your outfits

As a kid, you only needed one costume, and to be honest, it was usually picked out by your mom. But with multiple nights to dress up and the pressure to look absolutely amazing, people will be stalking others for ideas, and planning out every single aspect of their outfits, starting in September.

2. The anticipation

Once everything's all planned out and ready, the Halloween vibes will officially be inescapable. As the date gets closer and closer, and the hype continues to build, everyone is anxiously waiting for the spook-takular celebrations to begin.

3. Dressing up in your costume

Finally, night one is here and it's time to get ready. You finally have your costume on, your hair done perfectly according to theme, your makeup finished, and you're looking BOO-tiful!

4. The photoshoots

Who doesn't want that perfect Halloweekend solo shot!? Cameras will be flashing in all directions, at all angles, at all times. If you didn't Instagram your costume (along with a punny caption), did you even really dress up?

5. Desperately trying to rally

Waking up the morning after is never easy, but something about Halloween makes it even tougher. Since the weekend is far from over and rallying is absolutely necessary, this is the time for Advil, lots of water, and a power-nap.

6. Doing it all over again

As if just surviving the first night wasn't impressive enough, it's time to put on a new costume and go out again (and again, and again, and maybe even again)! Who knew October 31st could last a full week?

7. Total exhaustion

It was so much fun while it lasted, but no matter who you are, Halloweekend leaves you feeling like a total zombie. We're all in need of some serious recovery time.

8. Looking forward to next year

With Halloweekend officially behind us and daily schedules returning to normal, the excitement for next year is already building up again. With so many costume ideas and plans to steal, each year will be even better than the next!

Whether you were a devil, an angel, a mermaid, a princess, a vampire, or somehow managed to find something a little more ~original, here's to hoping you all ate, drank, and were scary!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
