A new semester equals a new start. Setting new goals can help you reinvent yourself, as little or as big as you see fit. For me, I have set goals for myself, as you should too. Here are a few of the goals or other events that I am looking forward to this year.

1. Starting new classes in a new major.

This summer, I had a change of heart and changed my major. I am ready for the fresh start, and being able to do something I love. I am now a journalism major, and am excited to start improving my writing and content.

2. Being able to see my friends 24/7 again.

All summer, I never saw my friends. I really only have college friends left. Living with my best friend is an amazing experience. It's a sleepover party all the time. I love spending time with my friends, getting food, and just being overall those people who take up the whole sidewalk.

3. Having classes with my best friends.

This is the first semester that I have had classes with my whole gang. It awesome to be able to have others to rely on when you cannot find the answer, or just need a study buddy.

4. Sorority recruitment and anticipating all the new members.

Recruitment is an exciting and nervous time on both sides. This is my first year as a recruiter, and being able to be a voice on the next generation of my chapter is rewarding.

5. Getting closer with my sorority sisters.

I'm shy, reserved, and like to spend a lot of time in my bed. Last year, I didn't get to the house to hang out with my sisters as much as I would have hoped. This year, I live in the house and different sisters are over all the time.

6. Making an impact in my chapter.

I've always loved having a leadership position in whatever I'm doing. I'd love to continue doing the same thing year.

7. Themed parties and socials.

Themed parties and socials are the best. People stick with the theme so much and go all out. Toga is such a fun time!!

8. Getting better grades.

Spring was rough grade wise, after a great first semester. I want to get my grades back on track (AKA aiming for that 4.0!!!)

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
