I went into college thinking I would have this magical transformation into the person I wanted to be. What I've come to find out is that I have gone through a transformation... its just not the one I thought I wanted. It's left me feeling uncertain about everything. I'm feeling even more unsure of myself than I did in high school. There is one thing that has helped me, though: music. Here are some songs I think you should listen to whenever life has you feeling down.
1. "Doubt"- Twenty One Pilots
This song is about fears and doubt and to me, its a little reminder to not let that stand in the way of accomplishing my dreams and living life. It puts what I'm feeling into words. Also, it has a sick beat.
2. "Polarize"- Twenty One Pilots
There are some songs that you instantly connect with, and this is one of those songs. It's a pretty catchy song to0. ( I honestly could write all day about how much I love Twenty One Pilots)
3. "Vienna"- Billy Joel
I remember when I heard this song in the movie "13 Going On 30" and thinking how perfectly it went with the movie. Its a different genre from the first two songs, but its a nice little reminder that there is plenty of time to figure things out.
4. "Try Everything" - Shakira ( "Zootopia" soundtrack)
This is such a singable that inspires me and motivates me to try my hardest and to never give up. In all honesty, there's nothing a Disney song and movie can't cure.
5. "True Colors"- Cyndi Lauper
This song is an oldie, but a goodie. My true colors will shine through, it just takes time. This song got me thinking about how I shouldn't be afraid to let me my true colors shine though and if I want change... it all starts with me.
6. "Dream On"- Aerosmith
Everybody's probably heard this song and its pretty self explanatory. One part of the song I like is "You got to lose to know how to win," because I feel like that's a very true statement.
7. "The Greatest"- Sia
I really like the message of this song and the idea that I'm great no matter what kind of person I decide to be. I haven't gotten sick of this song on the radio either, so another plus.
8. "I've Got A Dream"- Tangled
Like I said, there's nothing that Disney songs can't fix. This up-beat, catchy song. It not only makes me want to dance, but reminds me that people can dream whatever they want, even if its out of character.
I'm still lost in my thoughts, but music helps me make more sense of it. I'm still confused on what I want to do, but music made me realize I can do anything I set my mind to. All within time, things will fall in place. Until then, just keep doing what you're doing because it's all a part of the race.
